Karib lets out an exasperated sigh, "Not much help, but he did confirm the lizard folk and said '...And there weren't no sun...' before he went of on one of his rants."
"Seems to confirm a tunnel, eh? Or maybe only traveling at night, I suppose."
Turning to Merric, he addds, nodding, "The strong room may be the key, especially if we can find tunnels."
Rogram pauses while massaging a muscle. Looking up, he asks, "Should we hide in the crates?" He smiles. "They'd steal us and take us straight to where they're taking the treasure."
OOC: I'll throw in some suggestions from Jamna and Carlon if desired, but leaving the determination up to the party here to figure out how you want to tackle this.
Karib wrinkles his nose, "Wouldn't that lead to us splitting up again?"
"First thing seems to be to locate this store room.; I can try to locate the ring we left in the loot, if that helps, but it will likely need some stealthy investigation, unless..." he turns to Jamna and Carlon, "...unless you have an idea where it might be, or a better idea?"
Merric frowns and shakes his head at Rogram’s plan. “With our luck, we would just sit in crates for days. Karib’s right, it would lead to splitting up and I am not keen on doing that again. It hasn’t been good to us so far.” He looks over at the others. “We still need to explore the warehouse below. We know they moved some of the crates in there. That may lead us to the storeroom and the tunnel.”
He nods to Jamna “Jamna has the right idea, most of the place should be asleep by now, I say we go back to the warehouse and have a look. If Karib’s spell can get us closer to the ring, all the better.” He grins at Rogram. “And you might get to turn someone invisible yet tonight. Let’s check it out. Together.”
The ambient sounds of the roadhouse have faded to nothing but creaking floorboards, chirping insects, and the droning of louder snores emanating from thin wooden walls. At this hour of the night, the courtyard is lit only by the soft moonlight, and you appear to be the only ones in sight.
OOC: Including the map as a reminder. Red lines along the edges indicate doors to areas you have not yet explored (the left side of the map is the main floor, and the right side of the map is the second story where your room is located).
OOC: Awaiting character action here before continuing. The red square indicates the current position of the party, once someone determines where the party is headed from here, I can advance.
Rogram carefully (quietly) descends the stairs and moves over to the look at the crates. "Karib, do you sense your ring here? Does anyone see a crowbar?"
Back on the ground floor of the roadhouse, you see crates, barrels, and stacks of supplies around the perimeter of the muddied courtyard. Aside from the several doors that ring the balcony behind you that appear no different than the doors to the rooms on the balcony above them, there is a double set of wide doors at the far end of the courtyard, and a latched door to the side of the stairs that lead up to the kitchen.
Merric follows Rogram down the stairs, moving quietly. He gestures in the general direction of one of the rooms under the balcony by the kitchen. “The half-orc’s room is somewhere over there, we should stay away from that for now. I want to see what’s in the storeroom. I believe that is where they were taking some of the crates.” He moves towards the latched door by the stairs leading to the kitchen and carefully examines it for any traps or locks before attempting to lift the latch.
The latch swings easily up from the door and rests on a swivel. Seeing the door is unlocked and seeing no signs of a trap, Merric leads you into the small warehouse. Inside, there are several more crates and barrels, containing supplies protected by the walls from being exposed to the weather: food for the people, and fodder for the animals of the roadhouse.
There is a closed door 15 feet away from the entrance, along the same wall of the warehouse.
Rogram is greeted only by silence on the other side of the door.
"Anything?" Carlon asks as he fidgets with the hilt of his shortsword. Jamna stays to the rear of the group, watching the doorway to the courtyard with wary eyes.
"Karib, do you sense your ring here? Does anyone see a crowbar?"
Karib nods and focuses for a moment, remembering the ring, it's unique markings, weight and shape, visualising it in his mind, before calling on Gond's aid.
If he gets a sense of the location, he whispers the details to the others while maintaining focus on the spell..
Rogram looks at the human and shakes his head, looking wary. "I'm not very quiet," he admits, whispering raspily. "Perhaps someone else should take a peek. To be safe."
Karib, focusing on the ring that Jamna had tossed inside of a cultist wagon, tunes his senses into the divine direction flowing into him. He senses the ring in the direction of the door that Rogram had just held his ear up to.
Karib nods, "Aye, it's that way," he says pointing his staff.
He adjusts the staff, striving for the exact line toward the ring, making fine adjustments until he is satisfied. He then moves back, wondering if the ring is near or far, as his staff takes on a more martial aspect.
Not sure how much trigonometry he would understand, but Survival, Perception and Insight might help. He's moving in order to triangulate.
