OOC: While we're interrogating the prisoner, I'd like to get specifics on the party's current light source since we're in a new day.
The man's eyes shift between the party as he begins to answer. "I wasn't going...anywhere, I was guarding the--" His voice grows thinner until he erupts into a coughing fit. "I was to guard the entrance," he says dryly, then asks, "Please...I need water."
Wandering around a bit waiting for everyone to finish their rest Smoke turns to the captive. Having two waterskins from the city he takes one out and holds it to the captives lips to get him a bit of water.
Ah yes the entrance, and what would we find inside?
Looking to the others We will head there anyway. If you help us we will return for you. If you can tell us anything about the captives i can give you some more water, otherwise we will depart to search the rest of these caves.
Rogram has darkvision and so doesn't need any light source at this time.
Rogram would need a CHA save as well as he's standing right beside the captive. And I guess since Smoke walked up to him to offer him water, he'd need one as well.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: It's Karib and Yevele as humans who need a light source to be able to see in here. Sounds like Karib's shield is the source, so I'll assume that light is being re-cast on it through dark areas unless it gets specified otherwise.
Rogram CHA Save: 20
The prisoner tries his best to drink of as much water as he can. His voice lets out a bit of frustration as the water is pulled away. "You lot the good guys, then? Leaving a man to die of thirst and torturing him? It's no matter. You'll get your due," he chuckles. He squints up at Karib and Smoke, answering, "I don't know about this smith, or any o' the captives that left with Rezmir. Anyone brought in here doesn't survive long, we give 'em to the kobolds and the kobolds feed 'em to the drakes."
"And I don't know where the rest of us went. That's not for me to know. Something from that ruckus the other night sent Rezmir into a frenzy, she left us behind to guard the hatchery and told us nothing else. That knowledge is above my station."
(( Yes, light cantrip on shield, at least until they need to sneak again; also just checking that the prisoner is still under the effects of the Zone of Truth ))
Karib looks in the direction of the dead half-dragon before turning back to the prisoner, "Who would know where Rezmir was going?"
OOC: Yep, the the prisoner is still under the effects of Zone of Truth.
"Mondath," he grimaces under Rogram's dagger. Catching Karib's glance at Cyanwrath's head, he chuckles, "You think you're big because you took down Cyanwrath...he was Mondath's right hand man. She's a Wearer of Purple. I'd be right terrified if I were you."
Karib snorts, "The one who should be terrified is you. There are only three ways this can end for you: slow death, quick death, or freedom. The choice is yours. So, where would we find this Mondath?"
The man laughs loudly, ending in another wracking cough. "I know how this ends. I answer every question you ask and you kill me anyway. I know your type," he intones. He hesitates, then answers, "She's got chambers further in the hatchery."
Smoke paces around as the others speak with the captive.
Hearing the prisoner speak of the hatchery again. But the drakes they saw were not that young. Perhaps they were breeding an army of them to siege towns.
So Rezmir has taken the captives and the bulk of the army elsewhere and this Mondath is still here he mumbles to himself
Perhaps this Mondath will know where Rezmir went.
Smoke then walks to the prisoner and gives him some more water for his answers.
The prisoner takes a deep breath, seeming gracious for the additional water. "Don't know, myself. It's for Cyanwrath and her personal guard to know," he answers Rogram.
Yevele has been sitting over against a wall while most of the grilling of the captive takes place. Finally, she gets up and pulls some rations out and heads over to the captive. "Is there anything in the hatchery besides those two drakes?" After the captive provides answers to Karib and Yevele's questions, the monk will give the captive food to eat.
The captive smiles wistfully, pondering the question. "She's...remarkable. Powerful. A Wearer of Purple. You succeeded against Cyanwrath, but there's a reason he obeyed her. He was second to her, but she is second only to the Wyrmspeakers."
"Free me, and I..." he stops mid-answer, seeming to chew the last part of the response. After a moment, he simply shakes his head.
"I can't say. I've never seen the hatchery itself. I was guarding the entrance when you found me. First time I've been near it," he answers Yevele, accepting a small bit of the rations she offers.
Karib shakes his head as he draws a slow breath. "That's not the answer I was looking for, son," he says, his tone low and sad.
He stares at the prisoner for a few moments then turns away, thinking. He has no desire to kill him in cold blood, nor does he want to release him to warn his allies of recent events. Finally, his gaze return to the prisoner, a look of resignation on his face. "Not the right answer."
He lets the words hang in the air for a moment, then continues. "If you can tell me that you will not contact your friends, superiors or allies in the cult, nor servants of those you serve for the next month, then I will free you when we leave. Othwerwise...." he shrugs.
(( earlier ))
As they talk early in the morning, Karib nods, "Aye. It might be time for some answers," he says.
(( as Rogram begins to question the man ))
Karib nods and intones a brief prayer to Gond.
"I think that my friend here is anxious to know where you were headed next."

Karib nods, "And where was it that the company was going? And what did they want with the smith -- their prisoner?"
The light from Karib's shield boss is pointed directly at the prisoner so that Karib is at best a dark outline.

Rogram appears jolted by the captives words, and he puts his dagger away. "What's in her chambers?" he asks, sounding a little reserved.
