"Maybe the magic protecting those doors failed somehow." Krom adds as nothing seems to happen, "After all, this city crashed here hundred of years ago." As Rhogar attempts to open the door, the dwarf, hammer and shield at the ready, moves closer to the dragonborn.
Hoping the second time is a charm, Kazri readies herself. She positions herself in front of the group.

Rhogar once again speaks the words and once again nothing happens.
Out of some frustration he then pulls the door open.
To everyone the area behind the door is utter and deep darkness. Even those with night vision cannot see.
But Rhogar's vision, devils sight, allows him to see that beyond the door is a 20.foot hallway that opens into a room beyond. He can see a set of chairs are inside the room.
"Hmm... That is... odd, to say the least. The only time my vision gets this way is when...Ahh~ I see."Rhogar looks to the others and smirks a little. "And judging by the look on your faces, the same cannot be said. This does not entirely bold well, as it may mean that the defenses -- some at least are yet still up." He turns to peer down the hallway, rub his chin, and then nods sagely at some unspoken thought. "Apart from the darkness, there doesn't appear to be much to the room aside from a fairly short hallway that opens into some adjoining room with chairs. I can go ahead, but if you prefer to go together all at once, I'd suggest breaking out some rope just in case, and follow instructions to the letter."

"Bah" Krom mutters as the door reveals only pitch black darkness. "It's better to go all together, Rhogar. The darkness could be hiding some other nasty surprises." The dwarf scratches his chin. "Before breaking out some rope, allow me to try a hymn of light. It's a minor hymn and it could not be strong enough to counter the enchantment within the room, but it's worth trying." He then placing a hand on his shield, the dwarf chants a hymn of light. If the hymn fails to dispel the darkness, Krom takes out a coil of rope and grasping one end, suggests to the others to do the same.
Kazri thinks for a moment, then she takes out the Driftglobe from her backpack. She says the Daylight command word as she holds the object on her palm. "Not sure if this will help either, but it is worth a try. I will go after Mr. Nimbatuul.|

Krom and Kazri both make attempts to light up the corridor that is before them. Both of their efforts fail, neither Krom's cantrip or the driftglobe affect or dispel the darkness in any way.
"At least we tried," Krom says as his chant and Kazri's driftglobe fail to dispel the darkness. "Let's all hold on this rope as Rhogar guides us inside." The dwarf adds turning towards his companions grasping one end of his rope.
