Kaenís warmly smiles at Arteusa’s words. “My opinions on the Gods might differ from yours, but I can see you devoted your mortal life along the same path that I have. For that, you have my utmost respect.”
"War, huh... It is a hero's death but begging Ares's pardon, it is a pointless thing. I had heard news of it on distant winds. Perhaps it is fortunate for me that I had died before it had reached me. If the war had spread closer, I would have no choice but to fight. I despise human conflict but I could not leave my friends, who think themselves heroes, to fight and die without company."Rhaecus says in an uncharacteristically sombre tone as he approaches the two boys.
He unties his drums from his waist and hands them over, handling them with care. "These are my eponymous raving drums. They were a gift from Dionysus when I was young, from the time I had been a part of the Thiasus. Those were wonderful days, they were. These things are a mystery even to me... Dionysus's gifts are very difficult to predict, sort of like a clumsy drunk uncle that means well. Their most famed ability is to draw others into a dance as I strike the beats... Of course, they do not work as such anymore." He runs one hand over the cow skin head of one side. "Even its most common ability, one that I hold dear, is lost. The ability to immerse crowds in the joy of music, to erase animosity between man for a few brief moments if only they are willing to let go and live in the present..."
He retracts his hand and runs it along one of his ram-like horns. "That was a difficult thing to accept, when I found that I could not share joy with souls that needed it."
Zaela holds forward her blackwood staff, saying, "This staff was given to me by Thanatos, when he became my patron. He told me that it was a branch of a blackwood tree that grows here in the Underworld, which was dipped into each of the 5 Rivers of the Underworld. It has helped me channel my powers, and is my most cherished magical item."

"Yep, some pretty basic physical enchantment magic on here, though it's pretty solid stuff."
"And this rod, well, it's got a little bit of everything, don't it? Mostly enchantment, illusion, and evocation, though."
They hand them back, and pick up their tools again.
"If that's all, then, that's all we can do for you for now. If you decide to head out, make sure to bring back anything interesting you find. We're always looking for something interesting to work on, it's really the only thing that helps us keep going."

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Donos looks at the others. That was interesting but unfortunately frustrating. It would seem that to the extent his own physical power has been diminished in death, so too has the power that flowed through his belongings.
"Thank you for this entertainment," Donos says to the cousins. "But I do not think I will be back. Jason sails soon, does he not? I plan on joining him."
He nods his head slightly to Perdix and Icarus and steps outside of their workshop.
"An eternity of tinkering and labor?" he says to himself. "This is not the Elysium of lore."
He scans the view down to the water, looking for a dock and any sign of the Argo. He will take any chance at getting out of here. He can not contemplate what he would do in this bland meadow to pass the eons.
Arteusa nods to Icarus and Perdix and follows Donos out. "I agree with that sentiment," she notes, looking around. "This place is not at all what I expected it to be," she says unhappily, then sighs. "Though, that is perhaps my failing, for expecting truth to tales, when I know they are often wrong."
Rhaecus considers their words as he carefully straps the drums back onto his waist. He gives it a few strikes to ensure it's tied on just right. "From the way they speak, they expect us to return. With something in hand, no less. We are not the first ones to attempt this... it would be wise to temper your expectations, this journey will not be a simple one. Though," He turns and looks at the two boys with an appraising look in his eyes, "it seems neither you nor Chiron will ask to join us. It is not a pleasant assumption but... you have eaten?"
"Oh, yes, definitely. We could join you if we liked, but the only way back is to die, and that's not the most pleasant thing. Long ago we tried, like so many others, but like all others, we failed. One day we got tired of the endless dying and decided to eat and settle down. We work now, to keep ourselves entertained, to keep the urge to give up and sink at bay."

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Graciously nodding to Perdix and Icarus, Kaenís will say her thanks and make her exits, heading towards the lake. "As far as I see, attempting to escape seems like the only form of entertainment around here that seems to be of worth."
Rhaecus clops along in silence, staggering the sound of his hooves with Arteusa to make something of a rhythmic sound. Whether this is on purpose or not is unclear but he seems to be distracted.
As you approach the lake, you spot a man dressed in a red-plumed helmet, some light metal armor, and a short red cape, standing by a very large, and very old, ship. He raises a hand to wave as you approach, and walks up to your group.
"Finally, someone decided to show up. I was half considering tossing myself in the lake, at this point."

Icarus tosses the necklace from hand to hand, looking at it from every side.
"Hmm... yeah, some social and emotional enchantments here, as well as a decent bit of divination. Checks out."

"Would be best to sink to the bottom of the lake and oblivion than spend eternity sitting in this dull place," Donos says to Arteusa.
He thinks about the other dead who spend eternity in their world of gray and nothingness.
"Perhaps the ability to choose oblivion is the reward of Elysium."
He continues to look for the Argo.
"But I am not ready for that. Think of the adventure in escaping from Elysium."
