Saros calmly repeats Message to Khan and conveys the following solely to Khan
"We need to be careful, they know that we know, and the elf did not seem concerned. They have powerful beasts at their disposal, as well as the guards, think deeply before doing something that might end with all of us in cages......you can respond through this spell with little chance of being overhead, just focus on the link and whisper....and then I can let the others know as well"
Khan turns on him on Saros with a heated glare almost as soon as she heard the first few words. Yet, at the very least if she had a hold of Derrik, that is broken while she stared intently at the wizard. Nothing conveyed hardly seemed to calm her, unfortunately. At one point her hands are even balled into so tight a fists the knuckles audibly pop. But in response, Saros here's whispered back through what sounds like clenched teeth:
"Lips flapping lot, but no solution offered. Think little of Wrath of Khan to think beasts and human enough... For Human's Transgression, Khan snap neck. Elf Too. Guards too. Soon.... But not yet. Khan use their arrogance against them, she thinks. Khan... be patient. Now call others here. We make for top floor when gathered."
Before she let out a long exhale, and went to go track down Ang and Bleep personally despite whatever is spoken, starting from where she last saw them.

Ang tracks back to the stairs to check on everybody. She approaches Saros and whispers, pointing at the librairy: "There is a librairy overthere. Lots of books. I couldn't see anything of intrest but you are more erudit than me I think. mIght be worth to have a quick look. I can wait here."

Though he is somewhat interested in the library, Ghee's attention is slowly pulled toward the other room further down this hallway. He lets Ang know he'll be heading that way and does just that. The door is already ajar, so the dwarf's knocks serve more to open it further than to announce his arrival. The cozy room beyond the threshold has a large fireplace of its own, even though the nearby library already had one. It also has quite a nice view of the topiary garden through large picture windows (this is a separate garden from the front yard). Candles decorate shelves along with small animal figurines, while five overstuffed chairs surround the fireplace. An oversized harp stands in the corner. After staring at the room for a little bit and finding nothing of special significance, Ghee begins to make his way back to the foyer.
Ang spends a few more moments in the library but soon also heads back to the foyer.
(@Drache: The washroom you are in does not have a tub, just a toilet.)
Also on the first floor but down the opposing hallway, Bleep spends some time analyzing the clearly magical porcelain bowl. At some point, curiosity gets the best of him and he drops one of his caltrops inside the bowl. The object simply vanishes, and Bleep is left dumbfounded regarding what exactly happened. He does not understand either the what or the how of the enchantment, and is afraid of reaching into the bowl to try to retrieve his caltrop. He decides to simply move back toward the foyer.
In a similar room one floor above, Khan experiments a bit with a copper tub. The glaze does not respond to her touch, but when she splashes some of the water within the washbasin into the tub, its reddish-orange coloration seems to become slightly more intense. After a minute or two, Khan notices that the little bit of water inside the tub has now acquired a lukewarm temperature where it was fairly cold before. She wonders if her discovery is worth mentioning to the others but her thinking is interrupted by Saros' first message.
Darrik shares all the information he gathered with Saros and asks for some help making sense of the ancient dwarven drawings on stone. The two converse for a while and conclude that the manor must have been built on a much older foundation that could have served as the base of operations for the hills' first miners, the Chultan Dwarves. Darrik also knows that it is very common for such dwarven constructions to have a hidden passage to the outside, an emergency escape route of sorts. Saros sighs, wishing they could have confirmed the existence of such a passage, but both Watchers agree that this discovery will have to wait.
Deciding to rather focus on the other information Darrik uncovered, Saros sends an initial message to Khan, and then a second and a third. A few seconds later, the orange grung is back at the second floor landing with both Saros and Darrik. She seems ready to jump into action but Saros tries to calm her down. She lets go of Darrik but is still on the edge. She replies to Saros via his spell and the two hatch a quick plan consisting of reuniting the party and moving toward the third floor. Before that can happen, however, Khan makes her way down to the first floor foyer.
There, Khan reunites with Ang, Bleep, and Ghee. She shares with them what Darrik saw: a grung in the cellar being kept in an iron cell along with another prisoner, a kobold. Mez Kara was also there. From above, Darrik confirms the creepiness of it all. Ang looks up at Saros and Darrik on the second floor and lets them know that there is library in the first floor where they could possibly find the tome they were originally looking for. It seems all members of the party are one step closer to their objectives.

Suddenly, the group hears steps coming from the third floor. Saros and Darrik look up and see a tall human man in his 50s dressed elegantly in robes and a cape. He smiles at the dwarf and the gnome and opens his arms: "Welcome, dear guess, to the Weirding Manor. I am Lord Weirding, lord of the manor and the town." His long forehead is full of wrinkles, just as the rest of his face. "My apprentice mentioned we were to receive six esteemed guests this evening and as such, I have requested a private banquet for us all. The servants will surely be done preparing it soon. Shall we move to the dining hall? You can then entertain me by sharing your stories over a delightful dinner in a cozy environment?"
Being from Candlekeep, both Darrik and Saros understand that Lord Weirding is following all the proper etiquette for hosting unknown but respected guests. They also realize that the man looks exactly like the large painting of the wizard displayed in the foyer, long black beard and all.
The rest of the party cannot quite see Lord Weirding yet (he is still in the third floor), but they can hear his warm and welcoming voice, which is full of gravitas.
Ang regroups with everybody and tries to decipher if this Lord is really welcoming or if something is off. (Insight ? 4). "We thank you for your this, my Lord."she says in her best common, following by a nod with her two hand joined, a form of respect in the Grung specie.
Approaching the Lord slowly, she will try to see from afar if the heads of the Lord has also the strange scars she noticed on most of the villagers. (Perception? 18)
Ghee follows the other grung back towards the foyer, patiently awaiting the lord of the manor to descend from the upper floors. As Lord Weirding approaches, Ghee offers his apologies, such as they are.
"Ah hope ye dinnae mind is trying tae find ye. Wi had tae poke about yer very fine hoose a wee bit. Ah hope ye can excuse the rudeness but yer girl Mez up and vanished oan us."
Saros acknowledges the whereabouts of the library and will want to find a way to visit it, but the chance is lost for now with the appearance of the wizard
Saros speaks up as well, figuring that responding to the polite greeting in kind is the best course of action "Thank you for extending an invitation, we understand that you do not make a habit of entertaining guests, so we appreciate the exception, despite having to earn it. We look forward to sharing a tale or two, please lead the way....." finishing with an implied request for Lord Weirding to join them....Saros will wait on the second floor to see if the wizard approach.
Saros does look for any hint of ill intent or insincerity in the greeting - Insight 15
Saros does take the opportunity to Message Khan one more time
"Keep your anger in check Khan, and be patient, at least until we understand why a grung has been detained, and perhaps even who. "
OOC: Might be a bit out of order with Ghee's post......
Khan follows up after the others, looked the Lord up and down once he's visible from the second floor, but would say nothing in either greeting condemnation. She just stared long and hard up at him until Saros messaged. To which she curtly responded to in turn under-breath via the spell, and without so much as break line of sight on the lord:
"This one has spoken. Don't treat like hatchling least Lord and Book and missing friend become lesser of immediate concerns. Your concerns."
With that said, she straightened out her back and folded her hands behind her in an effort to look more dignified then what her battle fudoshi and braces otherwise might've implied to those with more civilized sensibility.

Already being in the second floor, Darrik and Saros are the first to have a chance to respond to Lord Weirding's invitation. The gnome matches their host in eloquence and manners when accepting the dinner invitation, and the dwarf is, well, himself. ☺
Saros then shoots yet another quick magical message to Khan, who responds defiantly.
@Saros:
The greeting, politeness, and invitation were sincere, as best as you can tell. If he has any ill intent at all, it sure is not making itself known in this initial interaction. Furthermore, Lord Weirding has a knowing glint on his eye... you fear he is aware that you just cast the message spell. The short piece of copper wire you have to use in the casting is a dead giveaway for a learned wizard.
"But of course," the lord says in response to Saros implied request. "Please follow me this way. The dinning hall is in the first floor." He then begins to descend the steps slowly.

As he descends, Ang joins the Watchers on the second floor. The host acknowledges Ang's thankful acceptance with a polite nod and a hand gesture for her to also follow him downstairs. As he passes by, she pays special attention to his long forehead, but fails to see any signs of cuts or other scars.
@Ang:
Nothing that you have seen or heard from the lord is raising any immediate alarms. You gather he is genuinely interested in hearing your stories.
Khan, who had also joined the others at the second floor landing by now, stands stoically and looks at the approaching lord. As she tries to straighten her attire, the lord of the manor waves a hand as if to disregard the gesture: "Oh, do not worry about such trifles. This is an impromptu invitation after all, and you are dressed as the daring adventurers you surely are. It adds to the image of professionalism you all exhume. Now come, let's continue our introductions over dinner."
Now followed by four members of the party of guests, Lord Weirding is making his way from the second floor onto the first, giving Ghee and Bleep their first chance to meet him. Ghee does a curtsy and speaks first, apologizing for their little explorative bout. The lord nods understandingly: "Worry not. My apprentice can be a little... fleeting. That personality trait has taken its toll on the pace of her lessons, but I am a patient teacher." Producing some dancing lights that begin to move into the west and east wings of the first and second floors, he then adds: "You should feel free to explore and use these abodes as you see fit, dear guests. My manor is your manor, within reason of course. I only ask that you do not disturb my personal quarters, my apprentice's lessons, and my daughter at all... she has not been feeling well of late."
Bleep remains silent and, once all have passed by, follows the group to the dinning hall he had already visited.
At the dinning hall, everyone gets seated, including Mez Kara who had made her way to the chamber separately. A few minutes pass where the maid and the chef serve food and drink to all and initial introductions are made (OOC: It is up to you what details you share.) There is an air of opulence about the dinner. The plates and utensils are all incredibly detailed and artistic in their making, and shine in true silver. The crystal chandelier it lit magically instead of with the aid of candles, and has a prismatic effect to it. The maid and chef remain silent, but serve all dinner attendees with the utmost proper techniques and polite etiquette.
All of that said, the small banquet feels much more like an offering of well-prepared comfort foods than what you might expect from a high-society gathering. The menu includes: a mixed mutton and pork stew with a side of dried parsnips and cabbage salad, steamed capon with mustard and grape pie, roasted crayfish served with soft cheese, roasted boar haunch with dried olive sauce, and a rich assortment of hard cheeses and warm breads to accompany it all. The chef also brings several dusty wine bottles from the cellar, letting you chose which specific type of wine you prefer. Cider is also available for those with no taste for grape juice.
"Please, please, share your stories." Lord Weirding says genuinely.
Saros decides that a modicum of truth is required, but is mindful that this wizard presides over the town and is the most likely candidate as the source of the abnormal behaviour and head scars that seem to proliferate the townsfolk "Well....where to begin....for our part, Darrik and myself hail from Candlekeep, and find ourselves in Chult seeking knowledge to further the studies being done there, however one of our number has gone missing so we find ourselves seeking out those who might have knowledge of their whereabouts, particularly as the some of the townsfolk have confirmed seeing our Kenku friend. It seemed logical to seek out the leadership of the town to further our enquiries, and so we are here seeking answers. The grung find themselves in a similar situation, missing some of their own as well," (as he says this he looks directly at the apprentice looking for some kind of reaction - Insight 12) "so we find ourselves allied in our endeavours."
"It seems seeking an audience may yield more than such enquiries as well, seeing your library so well stocked is certainly of interest to me and I will also happily avail myself of your invitation to explore after dinner. Do you have a particular passion for any particular field of knowledge, and what brought you here?" seeking to turn the conversation back to Lord Wierding to open up as well.....

Khan, for her part, is content to let things play themselves out. That, and like Saros, keep a close eye out for any particular reactions to the stories told at the table. Occasionally though she would also look at the food with some degree of longing, the thought is ever twisted back in the direction of revulsion knowing who was responsible for the meal. That, and the fact that just below one of her own languished in a cell like some beast. Eventually knowing she wouldn't be able to contain herself if she had to speak, she would look to Ang, signaling in a nod for her favorite speaker to handle the small talk of their "story", as well as the 'lie' about the mining business deal the purple had originally concocted at the gate.

Darrik is content to let Saros to the talking for him, as he's too busy stuffing his face.
