Hearing that the kuo-toa are not intent on capture or killing the party, Syvis looks to Thodek, stands, and moves to the duergar's side. She whispers, "I believe these negotiations may fall to the two of us if Shuushar is bowing out. My confidence is not entirely with our other companions native to the Underdark."
With hands clasped in front of her, Syvis steps forward a pace, gives a slight bow, and begins to speak in undercommon. "Your holiness, we come to you seeking shelter and supplies for our journey. If there is work to be done as payment, we will happily to hear you out and, if it is within our capacity, help however we are able. If it gains us the favor of the Sea Mother, all the more reason for us to assist."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thodek attempts to keep a quick, quiet running translation for the others. As Syvis comments about the two of them being the negotiators, he laughs slightly before whispering back, "My last attempt at persuading was with people I'd known all my lives, and the result was where you found me. I think for now, I'll just translate for everyone." As he translates, he pays close attention to the body language of these new people, trying hard to learn while he can.
Voyage stands rigidly still. She quite liked the crazy old Kuo-Tua, but looking at him now, not understanding any of this, it looks like its going badly. Once she hears the translation from Thodek, she relaxes considerably.
Speaking to Thodek, she says "Your city is on the other side of the Darklake, yes? Perhaps we can get safe passage there in exchange for whatever service they need. We can drop the mushroom off with his people since his grove is nearby." she gestures to Stool, adding "Then see about finding a way to the surface. Would someone among the Duergar have means to get us up there, you think?"
Voyage sighs. "Sounds like you and the old one here have a bit in common. Blingdenstone, then? If the Kuo-Tua can get us across the Darklake, it will save us significant travel time. Jimjar, do you still want to bet that your people have a way out of the Underdark?" The tiefling's frustration at not being able to understand the conversation is becoming increasingly evident.
Ploopploopeen waits for the party to return to silence before clutching a holy symbol of some sort. It begins to glow with a ghostly blue mist (Ploopploopen casts tongues). The Archpriest then speaks again, this time in a clear loud voice that oddly everyone understands. “Through the power granted to me by The Sea Mother, you travelers may now understand me and I to you. What is it you may want in return for this favor?” he asks calmly, his body twitching and moving erratically while he speaks.
Jimjar who seems unfazed by this display of power turns to Voyage with a nod. “Yes, almost confident there would be a way to the surface,” he says quietly.
Now being able to understand the archpriest, Nicholas looks to his companions before answering, "I believe we would like to take shelter and rest in your village for a day or two if it is possible. Beyond that we are trying to get some of our companions back to their homes and then return to the surface, if you are able to assist us with that we would certainly be grateful.''

Thodek stops his translating now that its not necessary and speaks directly to the archpriest, "I think a place to rest and transport is the biggest of our needs, though if we could acquire some supplies to help us on our journey as well, I would be very grateful."
"Our needs are most basic. Trifles, really. Shelter and supplies to allow us to continue in our journey," Syvis summarizes. "But please, holy one, tell us what we may do to earn our keep."
“Then all of this you will receive,” Ploopploopeen says. “You see, the inhabitants of Sloobludop have lived in harmonious service to the will of the Sea Mother for some time. Of course there were occasional ‘visionaries’ who stirred up trouble,” he continues casting a sideways glance towards Shuushar. “but nothing of any great concern. A few weeks ago, Bloppblippodd, my own daughter, experienced a powerful vision of ‘Leemooggoogoon the Deep Father,’ proclaiming him the new god of her people. She has backed up her claims with a great increase in her magical power, and new followers have flocked to her. Sloobludop is split in two,” Ploopploopeen explains. “fighting among ourselves. The followers of the Deep Father have been making an increasing number of offerings on his altar — killing blood sacrifices then casting bloody chum into the waters of the Darklake, where it is consumed by … something.” Ploopploopeen then pauses, waiting for some kind of reaction or word from the party.
"So you want us to assassinate your daughter. We'll need more information, of course, but I'm sure we can bring your ordeal to an acceptable conclusion..." Syvis trails off seeing the expressions on everyone's faces.
Ploopploopeen gives a nod before continuing. “Of course,” he says. “My plan is to simply use your group as bait. Bloppblippodd needs humanoid sacrifices for the Deep Father, and to be honest you all are a prize collection in that regard. The idea would be to offer your group as a ‘token of peace and reconciliation’ in order to get closer to my daughter— except you will not be helpless prisoners, but infiltrators. I need you to disrupt Bloppblippodd‘s upstart faction’s rituals, allowing us true believers of the Sea Mother to cut off the head of the cult. We will give you what you ask for and more in reward for this deed, and should you need it will have shelter in Sloobludop anytime. What are you thoughts?” he asks.
Syvis silently stares at Ploopploopeen for a long moment before speaking again in her normal, soft monotone, "This group is moderately accomplished in disruption. What sort of disruption would be considered adequate? And when you say 'cut off the head of the cult,' you mean that figuratively, correct?" She gives Thodek a sidelong glance.
Nicholas blinks as he hears Ploopploopeen's words as if not quiet believing what he has heard. Saying to the group he asks, "Are we sure we want to get involved in a family feud?"

"I believe our options might be somewhat limited at the moment. We have no stake in the matter beyond getting what we need which is shelter and supplies. We shall investigate, determine the factors at play, and plan accordingly. The identity of the opposition matters not when we engage appropriately."
Voyage nods her agreement. "I don't like our odds in this village if we outright challenge an Archpriest." She looks to the others. "We're not surrendering our weapons though, nor are we being bound, yes? We're all in agreement for those conditions?"
“Do not worry about the confiscation of your weapons. If there is one thing my daughter is, it is cocky. She will most likely trust in the power of her superior divine power and devotion to the Deep Father, having no worry of danger from you. This is why our plan should work perfectly,” Ploopploopeen explains.
“If your group is ready, allow me escort you to Sloobludop, and our plan may commence. Thank you again for this help,” Ploopploopeen says. “You will be the driving change to a more peaceful Sloobludop.”
Thodek follows along, “Would it be possible for us to get a nights rest first? Its been a long journey this far and some of us are not at our best, which we will need to be to assist you.”
