The Dwarf let out a heavy breath upon hearing Megoddosh's theories. He had indeed felt the distinct lack of divine grace upon this cities wretched streets. He responds calmly, and low as to not let others in on a hidden inner fact.
"Aye, this world can be a godless place. I believe my faith now better placed in the institution of the Church, and, all the good that the people of the cloth can do. The priestess, for example, treats the ill. That gives me hope, that brings me strength."
Just as he does, he nods in affirmation at Alex Lightfeather, and Megoddosh's confirmation.
"I came to this place to grow stronger, but the longer I am here, the more I hope I do not end up in the sanitorium like those other poor, wretched souls. If I die, I intend to do it killing the monsters here, not in a stark, windowless room."

"I doubt you'll find many brave in this place. What is your name? You have the look of the religious about you."
Turning to address the Aarakocra with his full attention, the Paladin responds,
"Ah that's a pity, I feel there is great need for courageous souls around here. I'm Baymen, and I am indeed a most religious man. Might I ask your name?"
"My name is Megoddosh. I had another name once, but it is lost among the horrors I have faced. However, I feel that this place will hold the greatest test yet. I suspected you were a religious man. Here, I fear, is a place the gods have long abandoned."
The gnome stares at Megoddosh, his green eyes silently inspecting him in awe. "That's a beautiful story you just told to a couple of strangers, my feathered friend. But you shouldn't reveal a truth like that so easily..."
Turning to Bayme, he extends his hand. "Name's Dustseeker. I came to this place looking for weirdness and the reasons behind it. Does that makes me brave, or just stupid? You'll have to be the judge. But I have a few tricks up my sleeve, and if this priestess believes there's a cure to the plague, I'll be more than happy to volunteer."

A tall elven woman simply dressed in leathers and a warm cloak listens to the rumors. Her blue eyes stand out from her pale face, her short white hair barely covering the tips of her ears. As she hears about the bandits and notices Tam’s silent offer, she thinks, Maybe, maybe she just got caught by some bandits. She walks over, sliding her bow across her back to its usual position. Closing in on Tam she says, “Are you looking for a group? I can help fighting.”
Tam looks up and up at the tall woman as she approaches. He gives a quick glance Baymen's gathering before quietly and quickly saying,
"Yes. The bandits on the roads. I think that is a good place to start."
He furtively looks to her bow and then around the tavern.
"We need more? Probably two or three? Have you been here long?"
“I have only been here a few days. The town is... unpleasant. But more people should be easy to come across if that group shouting of bravery could quiet down.” She glances at the growing party with annoyance, but simply turns back to Tam.

A thin half elf sits at a card table and ever so briefly laughs sarcastically at the dwarf's call for brave souls, then takes another drink from his mug. The dark haired elf is dirty, his clothes a bit tattered, and he appears to be a somewhat inebriated as he slouches in his chair. Careful observers can see tattoos of carefully inscribed calligraphy on his forearms near the wrist where his coat allows. A moment after the dwarf's call the disheveled elf can be seen throwing his cards to the center of the table with frustration and disgust.
Looking over at the drunken man, Helena noticed his disregard for the dwarf. Someone I can agree with. Walking over, she sees him finishing up a hand and directly asks, “Would you accompany my new companion and I in killing some bandits? It comes with a reward I’m told.”

"Oh, the pleasure is all mine"- He grinned. After the handshake, and before doing anything else, he put a hand over one of Megoddosh's wings. "You'll certainly end up in one of those places if you keep being so gloomy, lighten up a little will ya? Pretty birds like you were made to fly, not drop to the ground..."
Noticing for the first time that he had been ignoring someone, he politely nodded to Alex. "Pleasure to meet you as well"

The elf looks up from his cards at Helena and replies gruffly "who says I'm much of a killer?" He looks back at his cards and takes a drink before speaking again. Still looking at the cards he says "I know a few tricks though, might be able to keep you outa' trouble." "How much you paying... up front?"
A half elf with long, grey hair and a greataxe slung across her back walks in. The frown on her face smooths out as she sees the first bit of life in this dreary place. At least the tavern will make a week's wait tolerable.
She notices two clusters of people as she walks toward the bar. "Plague" and "bandits" are all she catches before catching the barkeep's eye. "Ale." she calls, turning back toward the room.
Mug in hand, she stands partway between the two groups, drinking as she looks back and forth between them. After a moment, she walks toward the group speaking of bandits. "Bandits sound like a quicker fix than plague abating. If I can be of help?"
“I have only been here a few days. The town is... unpleasant. But more people should be easy to come across if that group shouting of bravery could quiet down.” She glances at the growing party with annoyance, but simply turns back to Tam.
Tagging along, Tam whispers to Helena after hearing the drunks belligerent response.
"I'm not sure we need him. Got to be better?"
He looks at the church group again before whispering to Helena,
"My name is Tam, by the way."
He looks quickly to Helena then answers the half elven woman,
A slim elf, dressed simply, with few possessions around him, sits quietly in the corner on the floor, eyes closed, and legs folded under him in the position of a lotus flower. While he appears still, his ears have been taking in all of the chaos around him. It is almost overwhelming, the chaos, the chatter, the bravado. He struggles to maintain focus and recenter himself. But at the mention of bandits, his eyes flash open. Bandits' ears are always open. They may have heard of his brother.
He unfolds his legs, and stretches his lean, 6'1 frame and walks over to the small group, Helena, Tam, the half elf card sharp, discussing the bandit raiders. Their comments about the other 'brave' group resonate.
"A good person will certainly also possess courage; but a brave man is not necessarily good," he says quietly.
He bows his head slightly.
"I am Caine," he starts. "I would accompany you to find these bandits if you will have me."
While moste of the people in the tavern are shouting about bravery and quests they want to persu, a lean tiefling woman made her way into the tavern unseen (hopefully, Stealth:18). Her skin is of an ashen color and long black hair sprouts from between her spiraling horns down to her waist. She opens her black coat and reveals the fine dark red clothing with silver embroidery she wears beneath. She takes a flute out of the small satchel she's wearing and starts her performance.
Performance 6
Her tune has an almost otherworld beauty to it dispite the melancholic athmosphere it carrys, and non of the people in the tavern notice the magic that is woven into the tunes.
If Trinjya gets the attention of people for a full minute, she will use her enthralling performance (up to 4 people have to make a Dc 14 wisSave or be charmed sorry, obviously no tooltip for this one) on them, focusing on the group that was forming up to hunt the bandits. If she is successful, she will try to influence them in a subtle way, making them think that they have to bring Trinjya for their quest to be succesful.
Caine watches how Tam, the halfling moves and breathes. They are different but the same. Tam obviously with a different master. A different school of movement. But still the same.
He bows again to Tam.
"Those who have twin roots sometimes become the strongest trees."
(OOC: Who are you counting as the group to deal with the bandits?)

Baymen responded with a grin,
"It would appear that this bar has MANY brave souls! I am most glad to have you along good Sir Dustseeker."
He shook the extended hand with a firm grip worthy of a fellow adventurer.

Saccarr backs out of the room "too much talk, not enough action"
he shouts "who will join me on an epic quest to... (long pause)... do stuff! to liberate the people of the town maybe!!"
