Rushdi wipes some sweat off his forehead and dirt from his hands. "Hard to imagine there's much to eat down here that wouldn't turn the stomach. Disgusting."
Gajesh sheathes his blade and moves over to the bear spirit he had called upon. After muttering thanks in his strange language he lets it fade away before rejoining the group around the monsters. "Make good weapons from these." He moves towards the insects and begins to pick at the remains.
"Oh goodness, Gajesh, you're touching them. Oh, you are always so pragmatic, I wish I could be that way." Rushdi is grossed out but generally positive about Gajesh's actions
Examining the corpses they appear to be some hideous swollen amalgamation of silverfish and beetle, parts of their bodies are strangely translucent in places, and their carapace is discoloured and uneven and reminiscent of the various binding materials and components dried and congealed on the shelves and stands. Gajesh notes that given time and skill there could indeed be servicable...though unsettling...armour made from them.
At the rear of the room where the creatures had excavated there is a papery looking sac attached to the wall and a number of low rough burrowed tunnels head down into the earth.
On one of the stands is a book that seems to have been completed, it is almost untouched by time and it seems the vermin have avoided it.
Rushdi gestures towards the book and the sack with a "may I?" Sort of gesture before going to check them out to see what they are
Investigation 15
Rushdi looks the book over noting that its cover is some sort of delicate smooth tan leather, it is held closed by a bronze catch that appears untarnished.
If he undoes the catch to open it:
Make a DC 13 Wisdom Save. If Rushdi succeeds he finds that he immediately becomes able to speak both Abyssal and Sanskriti ( Primordial), if he takes ten minutes to examine the book he also finds the following spells written within: Animate Dead, Vampiric Touch, False Life. He also finds within a number of rituals and recipes for various poisons and one for a Potion of Longevity....though a few of the ingredients give him pause.
If he fails the Wisdom Save he is Blinded and takes 2d12 Necrotic damage.
Krikoris moves over to the sack and uses his torch to see if its flammable.
As Krikoris examines the sack he finds it full of a dozen or so warped and miscoloured eggs....likely those of the creatures. The sac seems quite flammable.
Gajesh takes a few of the items be thinks can be used to make a few darts or maybe a makeshift club. He without much thought stows them in a side pouch in his bag. "If we are done in this room then where to next?" As he speaks he once more produces a small flame from the palm of his hand.
He is very freaked out by the sudden shriveling of Rushdi's hands.
"Yes, it is. And it's important to find what exactly it is those trespassers want here. It comes with risk. I'll have to try again, once I have recovered."
"If the temple is seeking this kind of knowledge, than it has truly fallen to corruption. I know we are under time presure to get out of this place but I am afraid I can not really head much further without a rest... if we encounter anything more, I am not likely to live"

Krikoris looks around as the bugs stop moving, "I wonder what they eat down here? You wouldn't think they'd get that big on mice and rats."

Krikoris looks away from the burning egg sac at Rushdi's reaction, "What happened?"
Mal steps backwards. "This place is cursed!"
