Lumen casts his detection spell on the cauldron. A faint aura of green surrounds it, confirming its magical property. However, his knowledge about the item itself is limited to the rumors that the party has already heard thus far.
a23's brute strength allows him to do the majority of the lifting of the cauldron, his friends helping to drag and push it out of the cave and on to their newly acquired sled. The bears lick their paws and Mr. Fluffers jumps on top, smiling in glee knowing that it is time for a ride.
" Its definitely magical in some way, but I have no idea in what way or how it works." He does his best to aid his companions and give them guidance as they work to move the cauldron.
The adventurers latch the cauldron to the sled, pulling it through the streets towards the town center. Townsmen whisper among themselves and eyes seem to be glued on the party as they make their way past the drab buildings of Easthaven. By the time they reach the center, Imdra Arlaggath is there waiting for them.
"You failed to mention a cauldron to me. Lumen, while you have been with us for awhile, you probably haven't heard of the legends that were once common around here." She peers at the cauldron with reserved curiosity. "Scython had gone into the caves during your absence and has not returned. Is that where you came from?"
Hardly waiting for a response to that question, she continues: "Speaker Danneth Waylen would be extremely interested in this find if you wouldn't mind joining us in the town hall."
" Sorry for not mentioning it. I really only learned of the legends a short time ago myself. I'm still unsure of the properties of this one. We did encounter the body of Scython inside. Sadly he was well cold when we arrived, I'm unsure of what got to him. "
Doing a little time travel I would like to have done a small funeral and put him to rest.
The heroes enter the town hall, unloading the cauldron near the door. "Please wait awhile while I summon the speaker." Imdra says, motioning for a guard to do so. She then addresses Lumen. "We'll recover Scython's body."
...
Imdra and Lumen reenter the cave with the guarantee that it is now safe. They bring Scython's body outside, where Lumen is able to put him to rest. "No family to speak of. But I'm sure some of the regular tavern patrons will at least want to see him off. I'll make sure the arrangements are made, Elder."
It is nightfall by the time Lumen returns to the town hall, and Speaker Danneth Waylen arrives.
"Blasted rumors are spreading all throughout town. One cannot even walk the streets without hearing about the cauldron. Is this it?" Danneth inspects the large magic item closely. "I can't believe it...were the legends true...?" Danneth's eyes are wide in enthrallment. He shakes his head back to his senses before turning to the party.
"Let's not beat around the bush. I will offer you five gemstones worth 500 gold a piece for this item. What say you?"
" I mean that would be wonderful, but I don't know what kind of magic this cauldron is capable of. I would like to verify the capabilities of it before I just take money for it. I would hate for it to do something awful instead."
"If the legends are true, this cauldron could have the power to feed all of Easthaven. That would be worth far more than gold pieces during these harsh times."
Danneth turns to Lumen. "As wise as ever, Elder Lumen. Very well. But do you have some means of confirming its properties? If possible, I would like to keep the cauldron stored in the town hall over night. I can have a few members of the town guard watch over it, unless you would prefer otherwise."
" I think that would probably be the safest place to keep it. I appreciate your help. I might be able to figure some things out. Anyone who knows the old legends who might be able to contribute information about it would help as well. "

a23's knowledge of magic does not seem to be effective enough to determine the properties of the cauldron.
The White Lady spoke of a magical cauldron that was rumored to be able to feed an entire town.
a23 had previously purchased a sled for the party's newly acquired "pet" polar bears. It awaits outside the caves. (-20g)

" Let me take a look at it." Lumen will cast detect magic and inspect the cauldron.

Roc gags a bit.
”It’s going to smell terrible taking this thing back.”
Errona looks and says "Well I helped flip it... Lets get it out of here."
“lets not keep mr fluffers waiting. I worry frosty and simon may try to digest him for nourishment given the opportunity”

Roc nods.
"We all know of the many dangers the Dale has. It could have been anything."
Roc will proceed to the Town Hall.

a23 leans in awkwardly close to danneth waylen, expressing a inquisitive gesture if only his mechanical face were capable.
“you intend to use the cauldron’s magic to feed the people of eastheaven? rather than making a profit?

"What did you just say to me!?" Danneth turns in response before pausing. "A warforged...? What are one of these doing in the Dale...?"
a23 isn't able to gain any insight into Danneth's motives above guesses from face value. Possibly because he is a robot.
