Bert leaves the coin with the dwarf, who seems to need it more than the rogue. He does pocket the ring and the paper, intending to take a closer look at them with his hand turned during the meal, and return them unless they are pertinent. He's a curious fellow, and has a very flexible view of property, but he's not cruel by any means. The ring being stone and then painted gold is intriguing to him, and he takes a beat to see if there's anything otherworldly to it, or if it offers a signet of any sort. And he'll read the paper for anything interesting. He reads elvish, giant, and thieves cant in addition to common. Assuming nothing interesting, he gently returns the items via mage hand to the snoring dwarf.
After eating and drinking, he tries for a room with two beds, and if not, splurges for a separate room. He asks about a bath and its price, but if it's too steep, he will just brace himself and jump in the ocean off the bow, near sunset drying himself off and warming up in the room. He's quite happy to be living on a ship for the night at least. He doesn't even ask Zook what their plan is, focusing only on resting from the long journey to Neverwinter.
Adelle is there in the shadows of the ally that allowed a good view of the Beached Leviathan. It's across the street and slightly up another street. It's a straight shot diagonally from Adelle to the front door. She watches as 2 clearly travel worn figures make their way in. She glances down at Oden as he sat at her heels relaxed but poised. A testament to the wild animal and hunter that he is. The rest of Adelle's unit spread out over the block keeping watch as she is. She can't see them but She can "sense" them. Arms folded across her chest Adelle looks back up at the joint that her quarry was believed to frequent now and then. The source of the tip is known to be reliable. Adelle knows this place relatively well and has saved the owner a ton in damage costs in the past month since arriving to this city.... She is not fond of cities but... a job was a job. And lets face it... this city was a mess it needed us mercenaries here to bring it back.
Adelle glances around the street then her eyes lock back on the establishment. She waist a while longer then steps out of the shadows. It's still early in the day. She decided to do the owner a solid and come here early rather then barge in when they had a full house and possibly loose patrons. Adelle gives a short quiet whistle to Oden who follows at her heels. He'd have stayed there and waited had she not signalled him to follow. Reaching the door she pushes it open and steps through with Oden following her. She does a take of the common area. Noting the staff, the dwarf passed out and the two figures she saw walk in earlier.
"Well met, Andrella, and thank you for your service!" Zook says with a smile. "I'll gladly take a nice light wheat ale and a room for the night. As for the bath, I will treat myself to a dip in the bay. What could be finer than a nice afternoon swim before enjoying a nice hot meal and a full flagon of ale?"
Leaving Bert to his thieving antics, Zook exits the tavern, strips off his clothing and jumps into the cold waters off the dock. He splashes around for a couple minutes, scrubs off the layer of dust and dirt from their travels and then climbs back out and returns to enjoy his food and drink inside the tavern. As he sips his drink in silence, thinking about the long journey he and his friend have had, the gnome looks around at the few other patrons, paying special attention to the woman who just entered with a wolf in tow.
Bert returns the ring and the note, with only a flash of disappointment, though he files away the name in a small nook in his mind. He returns to finish his meal and watches the new arrival interact with Andrella. A bath has fled his mind for the moment, though he files away a reminder to ask Andrella or one of the waitstaff again about the bath.
Nope, nothing like that. No, this is something all together different. Would you be so kind as to let him know Loc Adelle is hear to see him? Otherwise I can bring the lads in at a later time and storm the place looking for a P.O.I? That'll boost business now won't it?
Adelle stands up straight and rests her left hand on her hip. Clearly expecting Andrella to do as she has been asked. She looks over at the two newcomers and gives them a once over. Then nods at them in acknowledgement.
Bert raises his eyebrows, impressed, at the brusque entry of the newcomer. He looks back at Andrella, raising his left hand up and speaking behind it, saying quietly, "this is a bad time to ask about the bath facilities, isn't it..."
His right hand doesn't go toward his rapier, but it doesn't get too far away from it, either. Just in case there's trouble. Not that there will be trouble. But just in case.
His left hand, palming a piece of copper wire, cups his mouth and he casts message to Zook:
"This hopefully won't get ugly, but it might. She seems interesting. Chasing someone. Hope Andrella is okay with waking her sleeping friend."
Zook responds to Bert's message after taking a big sip of his slightly watered down ale.
"Always suspicious, you are my friend. I suppose you have reason to be. We always act in the ways that are in accordance to our..."
Replying out loud to his friend, he says with a cheery smile, "Oh Bert, just jump off the dock. The water is lovely and you get a wonderful view of the setting sun! I'll watch your belongings if you wish, you can leave the right here with me."
"Oh, and who do we have here?" he says as he looks towards the newcomer and her wolf companion. "Who knew they let wolves aboard the ship?!"
Adelle doesn't react to Andrella and just meets her stare for stare until she disappears from view. Her attention is drawn to the drunken dwarf. She cocks an eyebrow at his mutterings and just watches as he too staggers off. She then looks up a the other two still sitting at the bar. She leans a hip against the bar one arm support her the other hand drops to Oden and she sinks her fingers into his fur at the base of his neck. She contemplates the strange duo for a while.
Zook rolls his eyes at the dwarf. "I doubt that drunken fellow has even seen a real squid. Come to think of it, neither have I, so for for the purpose of discussion, perhaps I do resemble a squid. What do you think Bert, do I look like a squid?"
"Why yes, we just arrived this afternoon," the small gnome answers the newcomer in a friendly voice, as he wipes the foam from his small pointed beard and then dries his hand on a the fabric of his loose fitting, faded yellow robe that's tied at his waist with a bright blue sash.
"Interesting place so far. Lots going on here, it seems. I take it you and your wolf friend here are not new to this city?
Bert takes a casual step away from the wolf, and smiles nervously. "Yes, we are new, and just looking for a place to rest our weary bones. Someone recommended this place. It's interesting -- but if you've been in town for a while, would you recommend staying the night here? Or perhaps somewhere else.... I'm all for excitement and intrigue, but perhaps not when it comes to lodging."He pauses, looks back at Andrella, and says, "so what's the story with your quarry? We're the freest of free agents at the moment. Do you need any help?"
"That sounds like a very important task. I certainly wouldn't want anything to happen to us while we're enjoying our dinner. So, for my part, I guess I owe you my thanks for letting me eat and drink in relative peace."
"If I may inquire, what exactly is it that you are protecting us from? If anything, I need protection against being charged for watered down ale."
Adelle shifts ever so slightly to keep the blue skinned woman in her sights. She is able to do it so casually that It looks like she is only getting more comfortable. Adelle is still relaxed leaning against the bar.
Hmm... not unless you got the coin for it really. This place isn't so bad... It certainly attracts interesting folk. As to my quarry...maybe later. I need to speak with Harrag first. He runs a tight ship here and I respect that. Also the unit is just outside. But... I'll keep you boys in mind if anything comes up.
Adelle grins at the two. Still lazily scanning the room while waiting for Harrag to come out.
As to what you are being protected from.... Apart from idiot criminals....well, trust me, you really don't want to know.
Bert looks around the inn as Adelle gives her review, seeing it in a new light. He simply nods when she politely rejects their offer to help, and goes back to his drink.

Good afternoon. Would Harrag be about?
Adelle greets Andrella almost formally but friendly enough. Then she leans on her crossed forearms on the bar after her question..

Adelle shrugs.
Been here a while. Charged with keeping everything safe and sound both inside the walls and out... along with others.
She continues to scratch Oden's neck.
This is Oden... He's not a pet so please be careful around him. I don't mean to be rude about it but he will bite if you approach carelessly.
Adelle does another sweep of the room. Her eyes always moving. Keeping a look out.
