Theena was at a complete loss. Nothing seemed to be working and she watched futilely as the morale of the crew plummeted day by day with each unsuccessful idea. She even shared the last of her food with the others, not that it was particularly substantial for the "normal" sized crew she was with. Plus to add to their woes, the ship seemed to be heading into some sort of storm ahead in the distance; knowing their luck it would be dangerous and probably the end for them.
Maybe I never should've left home..., she thought to herself as she looked over the sleeping bodies of the crew in front of her. Shaking off her doubt, she stood off and trudged towards the ship saying to herself No! People are counting on me and I'm not going to die here because of a stupid disobedient ship!
Heading towards the ship's wheel - where the group had decided to do most of their "interacting" with the ship - Theena stomped up towards it and announced her presence by kicking it as hard as she could. "Hey! Ship! This isn't funny anymore! If you want something from us, tell us! Otherwise stop playing around and do what we say or let us go!!" She yelled at it as a mother would a disobeying child.
(I just want to say that while I'm totally stumped at the moment, I am enjoying trying to figure out the mystery of the self -flying ship)
"It's pointless" says Xial. "This thing's got us. It's going to pick us off one-by-one. We're just live stock."
"Gods you are just useless doom and gloom aren't you?" Druaz shoots back. "At least she's still trying something! What have you done since that botched fight?"
"I'm the one that put it together remember?"
"And you've done jack since then but vetch."
"Hey guys," Kembe interjects, his face hidden behind the map held between his hands. "We know the direction, and I think the ship's been slowly climbing, so we're probably not real near wherever it's taking us. There's the town we started out in, and there's a few others past that-"
"What's the point of figuring out where we're going?"Xial snaps.
Kembe's head pops up from behind the map. "Well it's something alright?"
"Ignore Xial," says Druaz, "what were you trying to say?"
"Just that it's heading back to where we were." Kembe shrugs. "I don't know if that means something."
Druaz offers a guess about the ship having some kind of nesting ground, or a hunting radius, but no one comes up with what to do with that information. Another day passes, this one without any food. The ship climbs higher as another corsair ship appears, moving the opposite direction. The sky is overcast now, with the first windy drafts of rain hitting the deck.
"Heading back to where we started? Could the Captain be calling it back maybe?" Theena offers.
As the winds start to pick up, Theena goes to the others quietly and asks, "Can a ship like this survive flying through a storm like that?" before pointing ahead towards the darkening sky.
Druaz pauses, processing this, then responds, "Like the captain just sends the ship out? Why wouldn't he tell us that? Wait... did he tell us that? Did we all just forget because we got drunk?"
"I never get that drunk." Xial shakes his head. "And the doc said there was something else in the stuff."
Xial replies, "Riordan, it's pronounced Riordan. Same name as my younger brother. It means 'efficacious', or 'eloquent' or something... I think."
Walking over to the red elf, Druaz taps Xial on the shoulder. "Xial, do we have to worry about the ship in the storm?"
"A normal ship would be fine if the crew didn't do anything dumb. Actually, it's probably safer, since it's probably going to know what it needs to do."
"If it's alive, but it might be a construct, like a puppet. Do we know anything that might tell us -"
Suddenly the ship's side-sails fold inward and the prow of the ship drops downward, throwing the ship into a 45 degree dive into cloud cover.
Just before the ship dived, as it's prow rotated downward, you caught what it's aiming at below the clouds; Another corsair. As the ship picks up speed, two usually secure ballista bolts tumble free of their rack, bounce and jostle impossible precision into place on both ballista, and push their own strings back andlocking into place. The ship has armed itself and dived into an attack.
Kembe rolls down the deck onto the front rail, just as Theena does likewise. Xial's hanging on to some of the rigging, and Druaz has her tail around the mastpipe.
Another ship?!? she thought to herself before tumbling towards the front rail after Kembe. "Wait is that another one?? Is there more than one 'living' ship?!?" She commented to the chef through the noise and chaos around her.
(If possible, can she see anything on or notable about the second ship? (Perception/ Investigation if needed: 21))
"Is that...a dragon onboard??" she said in a disbelieving manner to no one in particular. With the way her strange adventure had been going so far, she wouldn't be surprised if her ship suddenly transformed into a dragon to challenge it.
The ship below suddenly moves into the path of the Sky, in a move that looks suicidal, until the air displaced by your ship catches it's sails and wrenches the other ship out of the way. The ballistas fire themselves, but miss due to the other ship's sudden movement.
It's normal for one ship to avoid getting too close to another ship unless boarding, and that has to be done carefully. This Hungry Sky, it seems, has other ideas. It opens its sails just as it's prow dips below the rail of the other ship. Hooking up, under the other ship, close enough to produce a horrific scraping sound as the metal edges of the drophopper dig in to the underside of the other ship.
New round starts with the Hungry Sky coming up from below the prey ship.
(So am I understanding it correctly that Theena's ship is below the other ship (but close enough to board the new one if desired?) Can she the deck of the other ship?)
The Hungry sky is coming up from below. You can definitely try to board. It will be an athletics check, DC14. Your wings will mean that failure will require you to grab the side of the other ship, as opposed to falling between them.
(Sorry, did not have the chance to post much this weekend. Will get a proper post up later tonight or tomorrow)

No problem. This weekend was a bit crazy for me too.
You can see something of a storm front coming in, off in the distance of the direction you are heading.
Theena was at a complete loss. Nothing seemed to be working and she watched futilely as the morale of the crew plummeted day by day with each unsuccessful idea. "And" Kembe says, "It doesn't explain Riodran...Riodian...Roidran?"
Xial replies, "Riordan, it's pronounced Riordan. Same name as my younger brother. It means 'efficacious', or 'eloquent' or something... I think."

Roll Perception and Athletics.
Before she could add anymore to the conversation, the ship dived towards the ground and Theena did her best to hold on for dear life.

The crew is visible, and all except one is looking up at the Hungry Sky... There also appears to be a small brass dragon on their deck.
"Is that...a dragon onboard??" she said in a disbelieving manner to no one in particular. With the way her strange adventure had been going so far, she wouldn't be surprised if her ship suddenly transformed into a dragon to challenge it.

So, to simplify this before it gets convoluted, lets continue the encounter in Clash of The Word & Sky.
