As Neff conjures his spear and Esilia backs away from the wall, Syvis realizes the heavily caustic lime is still spread on his hands, which are now burning with pain. If this substance is not removed immediately it will surely cause more harm.
Esilia's eyes wander to the walls and ceilings as the group makes its way east. This place is damp, no doubt, but Esilia cannot be sure about the source of the lime--other than maybe it's natural?
In the lead, Abomwe rounds the corner and peers to the north to see the corridor continues for another 30' before presenting a set of stone stairs heading up. This staircase goes for only a few steps, and then it seems that the rest is filled in with clay and stone rubble.
"Ouch - " The pain of the burn on his hand made Syvis withdraw his hand immediately, looking at his hand that was hurt by the corrosive liquid, Syvis makes a painful expression. "That hurt... You're right, we really shouldn't touch anything." He backs away from the stone wall, and pulls out his waterskin, pouring some of the water out, trying to rinse it away.
Seeing Syvis is still in pain, Esilia tries to help him. "Hold still. I might not be able to heal you but maybe I can help it off." As she speaks, you might sense magical enhancement in her words. If her spell can move the slime away, she'll just do that. If not, she'll try to freeze a bit of the water Syvis is pouring, hoping it would freeze the slime on his hand as well. The ice is a very thin layer though, only as thick as the slime substance was, so it should be easy to break off, she thinks.
After some quick thinking, Syvis uses his waterskin to rinse off the caustic lime. Esilia's cantrip helps a little and the lime is now completely off Sylvis's skin.
Joel nods at the move to rinse off the lime, "Yes, there can often be caustic substances found in ancient tombs, not always from traps either. Make sure to avoid any water that smells of foul eggs for example."
(That block on the southern wall, that was just where we could see the wall past the stucco or is that a door?)
"It looks like we may have to back track. I hope it does not alarm our friend too much that we have to re-trace our steps, but I think it's unavoidable." Neff says with a sigh and a scratch at his brow. "Lets be as non threatening as possible though, and maybe make our way west this time. I just hope we wont have to double back a third time because I'm not sure how that guardian in the other room will take it. I hope for his sake he does not become hostile. The last thing we need is for these current occupiers to be hostile, it'll only make things harder on everyone involved."
The last words hang in the air like and unwelcomed guest. The Drow breaths in deep and then lets it out in a controlled manner and with it a noticeable change in attitude washes over his features shifting to a softer demeaner. "Well then, should we try another route or does anyone else have another idea?" He says with a tone of optimism and an inviting shrug. He then dismisses his ethereal weapon with a slight motion of his hand as if he had just set it on an invisible rack or stand.

(That block on the southern wall, that was just where we could see the wall past the stucco or is that a door?)
At the moment is does look like an exposed block from where the stucco chipped away. Further investigation would likely require some means of mitigating the caustic lime contact.
"I told you we should have gone left. Left is always right. I mean... you know. Left is always better. Although I'd prefer not to cross that swamp again. Definitely not a third time. How about one of us will go in first and look if the other door actually leads somewhere and then call the others? As for the fish... it looked rather hostile already to me." Esilia starts towards the door through which they came but stops a few feet away from it. "Does anyone want to volunteer?"
Abomwe enters the crayfish room once again and works her way around the southern wall towards the western door. The creature begins its wild gesturing again, but does not seem to want to engage---it remains wary.
Reaching the far door you observe it to be identical to the eastern door---made of featureless stone with an iron handle.

Joel shakes his head, "This place has already shown itself to be unstable, the last thing we want is for another cave-in to trap someone off by themselves. Better to stay together, I think."

Abomwe carefully opened the door and peered inside...
"Much better," Syvis lets out a sigh of relief as the lime is washed off his hand with the help of Esilia, as he looks at her with a faint smile, "thank you, I won't be stupid again next time."
"The clayfish seemed pretty annoyed," Syvis says, touching his nosing, remembering the lunatic giant fish waving around its arms, "be careful." He says to Abomwe before she leaves, "call out if you need any help."
Syvis starts walking ahead again, down the corridor as he arrives at the collapsed staircases. Keeping in mind Neff's advice, he pulls out the 10-ft pole again and starts poking around in the clay and stone rubble, hoping to find something.
As Abomwe pulls open the door and peeks at what is beyond, she sees a corridor similar to the one she just left to the east. The walls are again wet and slimy, and 25-30 feet in a stone stairway leads down to another door.

Carefully Abomwe approached the stairs and then down them to inspect the door, keeping an eye out for danger and traps like the one seen previously...
(Can we tell if the mist is thicker at the top or bottom of the room? So we'd know if going down would get us below it or take us deeper in?)
The amber gas appears to be accumulating near the ceiling indicating it is lighter than air.
Abomwe approaches the far door, examining it carefully. This looks like the previous two doors she encountered. She does not observe anything indicating traps or danger.
Joel continues to follow closely, rattling away and holding his glowing shield forward, "Perhaps we can escape this foul mist by descending deeper inside."

Abomwe weighs up whether to venture back or open the door but reasons she has nothing to report yet so pushes it open and peers through.
Joel continues to follow closely, rattling away and holding his glowing shield forward, "Perhaps we can escape this foul mist by descending deeper inside."
Abomwe pulls open the door to reveal a chamber beyond.
