Joel shrugs, "We came from downstream, so I figure we can try upstream, maybe we'll get lucky. As for the wrath of the god of this place, some deities do indeed get very upset when you steal from their temples and have been known to unleash incredible wrath upon would be thieves, but those are usually in relation to active temples. A god of an abandoned temple like this might actually like us to take any artifacts we can with us back to civilization where its reputation and influence could grow. The way I see it, we're as likely to be rewarded as punished, if anything happens at all and I'm always on the side of learning more over leaving questions unanswered."
Abomwe peers around the corner to see the corridor continue north for another 40 feet. The rivulet of mud and water continues along the length of the passage. Roughly 30 feet along, on the east wall, stands a twelve-foot-tall stone statue of a man outfitted in fine clothing and holding a stone tray in his raised arms. A set of double doors great you at the terminus of the hallway.
Joel moves straight to the statue, trying to identify features and clothing style to identify his origins, "Fascinating! Can I give someone a boost to try and look at what is up on the tray? I'm really curious."

Blue eyes dart from the tray, to the door, and then to his fair skinned friend Esilia. "What do you think?" he offers. He knew enough of the world to know most wizards new better about most things than he did. He also trusted her, especially right now. Neff knew how to talk his way out of situations or kill his way out of situations, but he was never good at thinking or overpowering his way out of a situation. His companions were important to him, key to his survival. He trusted them. These thoughts could probably be easily read in that split second glance he gave her. That, and the joy that he had someone he could trust.

Esilia was about to suggest herself to be boosted - curious about what's in the tray as well - and secretly frowns when Abomwe suggests herself. Oh well.
"My guess? Either one of their gods, a king or a great hero. Maybe something on the tray could tell us more. Let me think, maybe I've read about him somewhere or seen him in a different ancient ruins."

"How about I boost you?", Abomwe grinned.

Joel shakes his head, "With my armor, I'm not really suited for climbing. Esilia, would you mind a boost to look what's up there?"
Esilia's red eyes seem to become brighter as Joel suggests to lift her up. Especially after she wasn't very successful at recalling information about the statue. "Sure!" She says. Wait, it looks like her eyes did change. They're no longer completely red, but rather human-like, except their colour which is now light-pink. She allows Joel to lift her while using her tail to hold her skirt in a way that will prevent him from taking any pervy peeks. She then looks at the tray, checking if anything is on it.
As you approach the statue, you notice its eyes appear to be black gemstones; the right one droops out of its socket, balancing on the statue’s cheek. From behind the left shoulder protrudes the hilt of a weapon, most likely a sword. The stone tray, as well as the forehead and the nose of the statue, are chipped and scratched.
Esilia prepares to be hoisted up on the tray by Joel...

Syvis frowns. He is still a little wary about taking away the pyramid, even though he has already check for traps and there wasn’t evidence of any - still, no sight of trap being triggered doesn’t mean there is no trap being triggered, and no signs of magic doesn’t mean there isn’t any. He prefers to remain a respectful distance to anything unknown, and his pragmatic nature always leans to the idea that everything he does has consequences, whether imminent or impending. But he decides to move on, feeling unproductive to dwell on something that has already happened.
Peering around the corner, a statue stands in the corridor. He follows his companions down the hallway, crossing his arms in front of his chest, with a smile, Syvis watches with interest, watching them figuring out a way to lift themselves up for a peek at the tray the statue is holding. “Let us know what you see.” He teases.
(( Sorry all, had a family emergency I had to take care of. Back to the adventure...))
Joel hooks his hands together to form a lift for Esilia’s foot who, without a problem, climbs up on the out-jetted plate. Briefly, she notes the polished black stones in place of the figure’s eyes, and the hilt of a sword shoved behind the statue’s left shoulder. Placing her entire weight on the tray, the stone statue suddenly tips forward, toppling face first against the opposite wall.
Esilia and Joel please make Dexterity saving throws.
Abomwe performed a number of blessing signs as she jumped back from the falling statue....she was concerned about her companions.....but more concerned that they had just broken an icon of the temple.
True she had taken the pyramid but it hadn't actually left the temple yet....
Having an advantageous view, Joel is the first to recognize what is happening, seeing the base of the statue acting as a pivot against the mismatch of weight--it's enough time for him to move deftly away as the structure falls forward.
Esilia, seeing a quick flash out of her peripheral as Joel scammers away, experiences that jolting feeling of abrupt equilibrium shift people get when their purchase fails. Trying to shift her weight to one side and dive out from underneath the toppling stone mass, she is not quite quick enough, and goes down in a tangle of limbs and stone.
Esilia takes 4 bludgeoning damage and is prone next to the fallen statue.
A sheathed sword of some type lies on the floor next to the now chipped statue and two smooth black opals bounce and settle beside it all. On the wall behind where the statue once stood is a narrow passageway about 4 feet above the floor--large enough for humanoids to crawl through.

Esilia stands up grunting, her tail coiling around her left leg. "Don't move like that while carrying someone! Look! I'm all wet now and I'm lucky I didn't break any bones!" She takes a few moment to calm herself down, breathing deeply and slowly.
She picks up the opals and tries to assess their worth. After that, she looks into the passageway that is now revealed. "Anyone else curious? I know we should look for a way out but honestly this looks more interesting. Besides, there's no guarantee going that way", she points towards the doors, "will lead us out." She glances at Joel for a moment, trying to give an intimidating look - which doesn't really succeed - as if saying: "After that, you better agree with me on this."

“Oh - ” Syvis lets out a brief exclamation as he catches sight of the statue beginning to tumble, but it was too late for him to do anything. Joel leaps out of the way and Esilia fell onto her butt. He drew a breath back in and helps Esilia stand up again, “are you alright?“ He asks the wizard.

Abomwe gets awkwardly out of her crouched boosting position .....she looked mildly put out for a moment then asks, " So what is up there?"
