"I will answer," he says, "But not here, not now. After this, you and me, if you would still like to talk."
"The things I said, I did mean." He starts again, resting his gaze on Talion, "that I will ask him to look after you. You have very valuable qualities, Talion. Even though you called him an ointment."
Talion chuckles. "I am sure he's been called worse."
He looks around their surrounds, remembering the horrors experienced by the not-children, and by the maid. "I don't think I want to be 'looked after', if it means I end up as something like what we have been fighting here...is that what you offer?"
Talion nods, somewhat relieved. Me, a priest. Hah, that'd be the day. One master is enough, and we have a good understanding, no point in upsetting it. He looks at Ervan again, then back to the others, "I'll take a rest, and watch the crazy elf. It looks like the Grand Inquisitor here..." he nods in Onyx's direction, "... needs several -- one more good hit and he'll fall over. Anyone who's not resting might want to give this room a once-over. Or we can do it after..."
He again focuses on Onyx and grins, "We brigands have to pay the bills, just like everyone else." His smile broadens. "Brigand, I like the sound of that. Sounds almost respectable. What do you think, Sho? Am I brigand material?"
"I don't know," Sho sizes Talion up in seriousness. Respectable for an untrained man, but still not quite athletic or muscular by any means. He wonders if the man's got overconfident from opening crypts. "You are more cutpurse than brigand to me."
Talion stares at Sho for a moment then shakes his head, and laughs "Is impeccable honesty a requirement of your god, or just a personal choice? Either way, I now have something to aspire to!" He nods in satisfaction. "Brigand."

Talion, still carrying a tarpaulin that they found outside the house, wraps it around the elf in an effort to keep him warm, then resumes his rest wondering what it is that has so affected the elf.
He starts speaking in hushed tones to the elf, telling highly embellished tall tales of his exploits from the time after he and his brother escaped the orphanage. Tales or narrow escapes, unlikely rescues, and daring robberies are interspersed with tales of the the pranks that he and his brother played upon the underworld figure who was their protector and mentor.
The tales he tells are not the dark ones that would unsettle the elf, but the ribald and ridiculous ones designed to entertain and draw the elf out of his dark place.
Performance: 6
The oppressive setting -- the chanting, the damp, the dark (normally so welcoming) -- not to mention the brooding form of Onyx, lurking and scowling at the foot of the stairs, manages to suck the life out of tales that usually have his audience laughing merrily. Even to Talion his tales sound hollow and implausible. He keeps going, but is unable to put his heart into what is usually well-rehearsed and well-timed performance.
At the end he absent-mindlessly strokes the dog's neck, "What are we going to do with him Lucky Bear?"
Bertolt shakes his head as his attempt at scaring Evren out how shock fails. With little else to do he moves to find his own spot to rest, taking the time to take notes of a few things.
Ok, you all finish a short rest. You rest poorly, the thumping and chanting coming from below punctuates your attempts at sleep. You are all currently in darkness (Sho and Bertolt can't see).

I imagine Sho would've refreshed his light at some point, he wouldn't just sit in complete darkness. He should always have his light on, unless for some particular reason he can't or he chooses not to.
During the short rest Sho had taken time to pray. I'm going to message you.

Noted. I'll assume an auto-light cast then unless told otherwise.

During the short rest, at some point, Onyx disappeared back towards the crypts for a little while. Anyone following him would have seen him sit near the sarcophagus where he laid the sword and bones to rest, seemingly in prayer or meditation.
(I know its vaguely retcon but I'll message ya. Was hoping I'd get this post up earlier.)

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
Alright you all settle down for a nice little short rest. From my perspective:
- Erven is still up the stairs as far as possible, near the trap door; the trap door is at the end of the stairs in the roof. - Onyx has taken a little stroll north towards the crypts, hope he doesn't get in much trouble. - Bertolt is in the happy-fun room taking notes. - Sho wants to pray and likely doesn't want to do that near prying eyes I am guessing so he'll move somewhere in the happy-fun room unless told otherwise. - Talion rests near Erven. - Lucky Bear curls up next to Erven.
Contrary to above call for perception and assuming the above is okay with you.... - Talion, roll a perception check. - Bert, you roll a perception check as well, but roll with advantage. During the short rest, you notice your surroundings are not as dark as previously perceived (check out your equipment page!)

"He was babbling. Hard to say."
He notices the white knuckles, but is unsure what to make of them. "Is it the sort of thing that you would do in the service of your god?"
Sho looks up.
"I will answer," he says, "But not here, not now. After this, you and me, if you would still like to talk."
"The things I said, I did mean." He starts again, resting his gaze on Talion, "that I will ask him to look after you. You have very valuable qualities, Talion. Even though you called him an ointment."

"No." Sho lets go of his hands, "Not quite. More like how he looks after me."
"I cannot offer you anything." He says, his voice softer, "It is just something that I feel I can do. That is all."
Talion nods, somewhat relieved. Me, a priest. Hah, that'd be the day. One master is enough, and we have a good understanding, no point in upsetting it. Sho lets out a soft laugh. "A very admirable goal," he says, "I hope to see you succeed."
Do you all want to take a short rest? Or anyone want to look around or do anything? Or want to fast forward an hour?

(( Happy to FFWD, Talion will take a short rest and see if Ervan improves...but take an interest in anything whatever others do ))
Erven continues to shiver, startled as each of you approaches, lost in a dark dream, staring straight ahead, with wet pants.
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
