Erven the door is slightly ajar and peeking through the slight opening you see a chandelier suspended above a table in the middle of the room. Two high-backed chairs flank the table, which has an empty clay jug and at least two clay flagons but because of the door you can’t see anything else. You don’t hear anything inside the room.
Sho stands still as he watches Erven work the trapdoor, he seems to be paying attention, but was not fazed for even a little when Erven almost fell as the mist slithering in, so perhaps he is not there at all. He nods slowly at Talion, then starts off south.
With Sho immediately behind the slinking Erven, and Talion behind him, and finally Bertolt and Onyx defending the rear, Erven gingerly pushes the door open warily. He moves to take a step inside but his hand gets caught on the door knob. He pushes it a little more forcefully and pulls back again. Still stuck. Perplexed, Erven tries to rip his hand from the door but to no avail. He peers closer at the door and notes some wet goopy adhesive-like substance smeared all over the door. As Erven investigates closer, the door itself creaks and shudders. You all watch in horror as two eyes, a much to large mouth with rows of tiny sharp teeth, and a boa constrictor size appendage appear on the "door."
Erven's eyes widen as large as dinner plates and those who can see - Sho and Talion - feel their jaws drop in astonishment. You all realize what this is - a bogeyman from your childhood, the story told by swaggering adventurers in the local inn - this is a mimic! Erven is grappled and so it attacks him with its pseudopod! Attack:21Damage:6 If it hits, Erven, you are doubly-grappled....
Erven as a free action, shouts “The door grabbed me, what the heck?!? Let me go! Do you want some food? We just killed some ghouls, you can eat them if you will let me go, we will bring them to you....arrrggghhh. Help!”

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bertolt draws his shortsword, not wanting to risk hitting his companion with a stray bolt from his crossbow. Stepping closer he slashes towards the mimic.
Shortsword: Attack: 11 Damage: 6
If he can not get close enough he will curse and do his best to keep the thing in sight.
"Are you serious! You took the form of a door? You foolish beast, even a child knows that a chest would have been the better choice!"
Viscious Mockery so make a DC 14 wis save or take 3 Psychic Damage.

You know mimics are pretty easy to hit and are not agile and can't move well.
You know, in addition to what Sho knows, that mimics are low intelligence and low charisma creatures, immune to acid and cannot be knocked prone.
You know everything listed here , just not the specific values, e.g. AC 12 = easy to hit; HP = usually lots of HP
