Gale gets a few curious looks at the mention of bandits but the female gnome watching over a tinker's wagon answers. People jostle pasted as the market swells with the beige and gray denizens of Whitehaven.
"Aye," the older gnome calls out. "They attacked us coming in. A great lumbering oaf and a horned devil. They like to trick good folk seeking help then led you off and try to rob you blind," she exclaims. "My husband there was nearly killed," she points to a male gnome who pokes his head out of the wagon with a bruise on his face and a black eye. "But our fireworks chased them off," she adds grinning gesturing at a few baskets of rocket and sparkler shaped fireworks. "The village guards too busy looking after the nobles to bother protecting us common folk," she adds as a crowd gathering around listening seem to murmur in agreement.
OOC: Gale and Malcolm roll perception checks individually, please.
Meanwhile across the market....
Sef sees little more than the now young girl, maybe in her early teens halfling age is SO hard to judge, handing out bits of carrot the size of a pint glass bottom and sprouts the size of a baby's fist to the waiting people. As before their graying skin and dull expression seem momentarily lifted before being once again returned to the dull state. Sef hears her bless each person who accepts her gift.
Ruz gets in line and is handed a disc of carrot the size of a pint glass bottom with a soft smile from the girl!
"Melora blesses you," she whispers to Ruz.
OOC: Does Ruz eat it? Sef and Ruz roll perception checks individually, please.

"I'm glad you both made it out okay. What did they say to get you off the road? Were there just the two?"Gale moves through the crowds to get closer to the gnome's cart so they can speak better. Suddenly having an idea, she adds, "Are those fireworks for sale?"
Ruz and Malcolm fail to notice but Gale and Sef on opposite sides of market spot pickpockets working their way through the crowds.
At the tinker's wagon...
"They said they had an injured husband and they'd been robbed. The horned devil wasn't a devil though had another face entirely! That of a young woman. Tricky business all of it but there were more than two. I was smart though and set the fireworks off as the big one snatched up my husband. He's a natural healer you see. Wouldn't hurt a fly," she adds running her cherry like nose. "Oh, the fireworks are my dear but they're expensive. I don't tend to sell them much here but it's a fine display of my talents for things that go bomb," she adds grinning. "The rockets 3 gold pieces for one," (It's considered a ranged weapon that goes 25ft with 1d6 fire damage. Think of a Roman candle), "and the sparklers are 1 gold piece for a bundle of five. They just...well sparkle," she explains.

Sef makes his way over to Ruz after he eats the carrot. Quietly he asks him, "Was it any good? Learn anything?" He then takes stock of what is for sale. "Perhaps we should get something for the road."
Sef can see all manner of green leafy vegetables, bright orange and purple carrots, potatoes of various shades, and pumpkins the size of a small cart. It's a bountiful stall that stands out amongst the others which have some reasonable produce in comparison but not at all as good as the Owens family.

“These aren’t just good, they’re great. Wow. Yeah, we should get some. I’m already in line, just give me some coin if you want some. Not sure it’s magical, though. And uh... her being only a couple feet tall, I’m thinking I might have a hard time with that plan from before. See if one of you can get her alone, and let her know our suspicions.”
Ruz will wait in line to buy some of this amazing food to take with us.
Sef nods to Ruz and hands him a gold coin, trying not to be too conspicuous about it. "Get whatever you think is best with that. We can share what you buy with the group. Oh, and there's pickpockets working these crowds - so take care." He then steps away, making to look like he is checking out the produce and perhaps taking a glance at the next stall.
He tries to see where the young halfling has gone and tries to slip over to her when she is somewhere that is a bit more out of the crowd. (OOC: Not sure what roll this would be - maybe Perception:17 to find the opportunity and Stealth:19 to slip to where she is at. I can roll something else if needed obviously.)
Gale spends a moment inspecting the fireworks and sparklers, despite the fact she's already realized they won't work for her plan."They're very impressive. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to pass for now,"she tells the gnome woman with an apologetic smile. "Thank you for the information, though."
Stepping away from the cart, she mutters to Malcom, "Keep an eye on your valuables. There's pickpockets making rounds."Keeping her hands low and close to her body, she points out the individuals she's spotted, quietly describing aspects of their appearance if it will help.
“Yes, thank you,” Malcom says with a warm smile towards the gnome couple before flashing his medallion. “We are going to be doing our best to rid this town of them. Once we are finished, you won’t have to worry about the hopefully even again.”
He then turns with a small wave and heads off back into the market with Gale. He gives a grimace and a small nod at the information regarding the pickpockets, but nonetheless continues to follow. Malcom will also just to be safe, pat his own pockets and check his belongings for anything that might be missing.
"Yes, well they aren't for everyone like I said," the gnome woman replies nodding at Gale. "Be careful on the roads if you are traveling and mind what I told you. Best not believe your heart or your eyes," she adds. "Most folk will deceive both," she offers.
At the Owens' stall...
Sef moves in closer to the halfing girl who's never on her own but out moving among the people who line up for her wares. He watches Ruz stay in line for produce and is then help by an older halfling man. Sef doesn't seem to draw attention to himself but he can't exactly, try as his might, get the young halfling girl on her own.
OOC: Not really sure how you're expecting the stealth to go regardless of how high it is you're in the middle of a market standing outside a line of people. I did want I could with the roll.
"What can I get you my lad," the male halfling asks Ruz with a rosy-cheeked smile.
