An unexpected solar eclipse happened on October 28th 20XX everyone fell asleep when the eclipse appeared a day after the eclipse many people turned into something called undead unlike the mainstream zombies they have something called a core that is located in their head as long as that core is still alive the zombie will not die hence why people destroy their entire head however some of the undead are called abnormal they have unique abilities such as electrokinesis or enhanced agility some of their cores are located in a different place than their head these abnormal are luckily pretty rare in the armageddon.
Some people wake up after the eclipse, and due to major changes and circumstances, they can gain powers such as blood manipulation, fire manipulation, ice creation, shadow manipulation, electrokinesis, enhanced strength/agility, enhanced intelligence, healing, and barrier creation. Typically, a superhuman only gets one of these abilities.
After an event called Black Rain, more humans turned to zombies, and some mutant and undead animals appeared. Mutant animals typically don't have powers like ice creation or blood manipulation but instead have enhanced physical attributes and can become mutated in different ways. Undead animals, like the undead, can be abnormal and have powers like regular undead. Shortly after this event Undead instinctively started grouping and becoming undead hordes.
Then, I'll explain a few of the existing groups as I read and remember more details about the book. Right now, I'll explain that the military has blockaded several towns near Koxu. They tell you to either turn around or try to kill you because, in a town called Crane, they are experimenting with weapons and zombies and humans to try and stop the pandemic. Some military people are nice, but be cautious when dealing with them.
Then there is the group called Sanctuary. Sanctuary is a faction whose leaders all used to be criminals and Sanctuary values strength above all else the better of a power you have the better you get treated however people without powers in Sanctuary get treated horribly and to get any resources you have to do jobs and get a currency they made called contribution points from doing jobs listed on a board
Then there is the main character's group, which has taken refuge in an underground complex. The people there are very nice and they are a decent-sized group. As far as I'm aware, they are the only group right now to have a mutant animal, a dog. The complex is fairly safe, and they have a healer, so you can survive even if you get bitten by an undead.

Artifacts: are unique items with special abilities that typically become artifacts after their owner dies, but this is extremely rare. For example, in the story, an earring was able to store stuff in it, like a bag of holding. If you decide to have an artifact, please give a story behind how you came to get it and try to keep the artifacts more modern and try to keep them balanced.
Undead: not like a zombie you need to destroy the core in their head to kill them
Abnormal Undead: They gain power like the gifted humans do and sometimes don't have their core located in their head
Undead animals: From what I have seen undead animals typically have powers and are just as dangerous as other abnormals.
Mutant animals: they have mutated and have much better physical abilities but typically don't have powers such as abnormal's and humans can they be tamed but it is extremely hard if you tame them after they had become a mutant on rare occasions some mutant animals have abilities.
Mutant plants:they are extremely dangerous and cannot be tamed they can have powers sometimes and are extremely hard to kill because if they are able to root themselves into the ground their core will be in the ground
Hordes: undead instinctively gather together to create hordes they are extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs because it is possible the horde has a few abnormals in it
A extremely scarred man is scrounging around in a ruined building in a unnamed city he finally finds what he is looking for a first aid kit and starts bandaging himself up

POWERS:
powers can be divided into three groups
The first group is manipulation/creation which includes powers such as blood manipulation and ice creation.
The second group is an enhancement which includes powers such as enhanced intelligence and strength.
The third is the ones that don't quite fit in either of the first two such as healing and destiny bond.
Limitations and explanations for certain powers based on the book
Blood manipulation: you cannot use anyone else's blood but your own, your blood multiples when it is outside your body up to a certain amount
