The market of Saavedra is surprisingly buzzing compared to the size of this village in the middle of fields of nothing. The place is settled on a hill, and from the open square, one can see far, spotting the line of forest, a small vineyard and the proud windmills in the gold-coloured fields. You arrived a bit earlier, mostly resting in the tavern for the night, and had to realize that not a lot happens here. By now, probably everyone knows about the arrival of the new faces. The little square is packed with all sorts of people, as if every group of travellers going through left here somebody – a young Dwarven woman calling a dog’s name; a Half-elf meticulously choosing apples from a stand, bunches of Humans and Halflings scattered all around.
The stand owners seem rather excited about the newcomers, probably in hope that they can sell all sorts of supplies. The truth is, what they can offer is rather sparce, mostly vegetables and fruit, a hunter’s game and occasionally - rather pricey for their simplicity - baked goods.
You are there – you ended up in the square stepping out of the tavern or just tried to cut through to get somewhere. Nevertheless, you are there and this is where your adventure begins.
-------------------------------------
Why you are here is completely up to you. You may know the quest-giver already or heard about them is the tavern. You can be just passing through and found this village while searching for a place to rest. Also, some of the adventurers may know each other but it is not required. Feel free to introduce your characters.
You can find the "table rules" below
General RP ethics: hold yourself to the rules of the site, avoid meta-gaming, respect other players etc.
Format: please put all OOC information in spoiler, but leave it in the thread (so it is in one place). Feel free to ask questions and drop in ideas any time.
I will ask you to make checks here. You may ask if you may make a check if you are not sure or feel like I forgot something. Occasionally you can roll without asking if it’s obvious what skill to use (e.g.: you try to hide and make a stealth check).
Feel free to correct me if I make a mistake, but if the issue is more complicated, please PM, so we don’t flood the thread. Any given feedback is appreciated and if something bothers you, let me know.
Just arrived back from the feywild you see a halfling in ragged looking clothing. He has a (self-crafted, but fine looking) longbow and two short swords. He looks a bit skittish from being arround other people for the first time in a long time. This is Pimkin.
Just having finished an almost kingly meal (a piece of fresh bread with some butter and a glass of ale) in the tavern, he overheard some talk about someone needing help with some monsters troubling them. He now steps out of the tavern looking for the person with the problems and asks the first person passing by: "Oi, where can I find <name of quest giver>, I heard he had some trouble I think I can help him with!"
a short man, about 3 feet tall, with an elongated dragon-like snout, gleaming red scales all over his body, a long, thin sword at his belt, a bagpipes in his hands, and a slightly worried expression on his face, walks up to one of the stalls. his cloak flutters in the breeze, and he caries himself like one who knows how to use his weapon.
"uh, this is the place where I can buy something to eat, right? I'd like, a, um, fresh game if you have it. if not, I'll take bread and cheese."
And the last adventurer heading to the quest giver is an elf girl. She has blonde hair and green almond eyes, wears a pointy hat, and black robe …also a murderous gaze and sour look. Her name is Luciferazen Von Weise Pflaume. Because most of these barbarian who call themselves human cannot remember her name correctly, she let them call her Lucy.
Lucy's last adventure was a disaster. She couldn't earn a single coin but spent a lot. "…Darn it! That was a total deficit! I do hope our next client has a big heart and purse. What do you think, Artemis?" Artemis, who is Lucy's familiar and a white owl gives her master a big yawn and keeps watching the yummy mice running around the market. Sighing, the elf mage walks to the location of quest giver.
Pimkin, a human woman is the one who answers you. She has bags under her eyes, but gives a faint smile and a curious look. “Sir, I better tell you now, Davrick sure hasn't got nothing to ask of you. See, the boy is a bit…” she brushes through her hair, looking for a word. “Imaginative.”
She gives you another long glance. “But if you still need him, he will surely be back for lunchtime. Good luck with him - if you two decide to talk, that is. Now, if you forgive me... I have still a lot to do.”
Bizath, you can see that the lanky man on the other side of the stand is quite startled by your presence, but there is this shimmer in his eyes that tell you that they care little as long as you are pleasant and you pay well. He acts quick, chops down a piece of meat – at one point looking back at you, most likely hoping you won't notice -, folds it into a piece of cloth and pushes it towards you on the wooden surface. “There you are. That’s two silver.” he sais with a deep, groaning voice.
He holds his palm for a moment, then realises the mistake and cleans his hand with his dull grey apron, then reaches for the money a second time.
Anastria, you have already know exactly who you are looking for, spotting him just in the middle of a conversation. Or rather, he seems to be talking to a slender figure dressed in black.
Lucy, you feel a gentle brush on the arm as a small person, not quite reaching your shoulder bumps into you. They are a Halfling man, with brown curls, and they halt as they notice. “My apologies.” he sais, looking up. As you take a closer look – seeing an almost childish face, thick eyebrows and the weathered hilt of a sword on their hip – you recognise them as the person you were searching for. “I am in quite a hurry. Manda said this gentleman was looking for me, you know…” he scratches the back of the head and scrutinises the crowd until he spots Pimkin and waves his hand to get their attention.
"Well m'am I could use me some imagination, so thats fine with me".
When he sees Davrick wave to him he approaches. "'ello, are you the imaginative fellow that needs help with some monsters? I might be of some use for you." In Elvish he adds to Lucy: "You here to help as wel m'am?"
"th-th-thanks you." Bizath says, giving 3 silver pieces. "you can keep the tip." Bizath than scurries over to the rest of the party, talking to [insert quest giver here].
Lucy blinks her eyes and looks down at the halfling. She takes a note from her long sleeve and reads it. …Well it seems you shouldn't have too much hope for this job. "Ah…Hi. I'm Luciferazen Von Weise Pflaume. Everyone calls me Lucy the Hothead for some reasons. And this my wise servant Artemis the White! …Artemis?" The white owl is perching on a store ceiling and eating fat mice. "…Forget about the stupid bird. If my memory is correct, you are the one who's looking for adventurers, right?"
…Another little man. Lucy thinks. She has a feeling that she will meet more little people today. "Yes I come here to kill something and take their belongings… or their skin if they don't have anything. Looks like we are teammates. I'm Lucy. What should I call you?"
>>Anastria
"I'm not his friend. Just a sorcery for hire. It's good to see a decent folk (Elf) here. I'm Luciferazen Von Weise Pflaume of Everlasting Mountain. Which wood did you come from, young lady?"
>>Bizath
Lucy eyes at the other little creature. And mutters to herself."Yeah…I knew it"

"Miss Luciferazen, I'm honestly more of a city elf."
"Oi, teammates indeed it seems Lucy. I go by the name of Pimkin. Good to have some non-pixie companions for a change. Saving the town from evil influences was more what I was going for, but killing things to take their stuff seems like it would do the trick as well. Oh, and a musician, can't wait to hear you play those bagpipes."
Anastria: Before the Halfling could answer, Lucy already takes initiative. Luckily for him, as he seems to feel quite awkward handling all this attention at once. “That is right.” he finally adds “It is nice to meet you both.”
Pimkin: Hearing your words, the man fixes the ground for a long moment. “So, you have heard.” he says with a grimace. “I can assure you, whatever they claim about me, the threat is real. And I am willing to offer a real reward for eliminating it. You seem to be capable enough and I am happy that you approached me.”
Bizath: As you play the bit of music, you are met with the faint sound of applause from near you. A Hill Dwarf girl with two thick braids smiles at you for a moment – a little gap is showing between her front teeth –, nods to your quest-giver as if wishing a good day, and then she is obscured by the crowd.
Everyone: There is a moment of silence, before the Halfling man finally starts to talk.
“My name – though some of you may already know – is Davrick Goodbarrel. I have a rather simple but probably also dangerous job for you, if you are willing to take it.” He halts and thinks for a moment. “Maybe it would be better to speak somewhere calmer. There is a tavern near, I would gladly invite you for a drink. But we may as well take a stroll. I do not have much to tell, as I haven’t seen much, but I would be happy to get to know who I will be working with.”
Sorry for the delay, everyone; and apologies if this post has some errors, it is fairly late here already.

"I'm fine going to a tavern. It's too bright today."
Lucy leans forward and looks Davrick in his face. "…You know what? I had a very bad adventure a few days ago. I was unpaid, unhappy and very angry…until now! I'm happy and glad to have a bountiful client!" Lucy shakes Davrick's hand with a big smile. Then she reaches her arm to the sky and shouts. "Come to me, Artemis! It's a frrreee lunch time! Now go! Let's go, Master Goodbarrel. Tell me who do you want them to die and how crispy you want them to burn!"

"I've preferred... quieter deaths. Those are my specialty."
To Bizath: "That's an inspiring song, I feel lively because of it. Thanks"
To Davrick: "My apparently new teammates seem to prefer the tavern, and to be perfectly honest: Haven't had a glass of wine in years" and silently (a bit ashamed of having to ask it) he adds "so wouldn't mind having a patron buy some for me"
When they sit down in the tavern: "So, what seems to be the problem mate? And why do the people in town seem to think you're a bit coocoo in the head?"
