Name: Janus Spellbinder Race: High Elf Class: Cleric 5 (Arcane)/Wizard 4 (Blade Singer) Background: Cloistered Scholar Backstory: Janus found magic at an early age, or rather it found him. He had the innate magic of most of his kin but, his understanding and ability were a bit beyond others his age, bringing the attention of the Order of Mysteries, an elven order of priests dedicated to the study of magic, and initiated as an Acolyte. 100 years passed and Janus had become a priest, passing his days among the other elves of the capital city serving as a teacher to the University of Magic but, he longed for something more. Then adventure came to him in the form of a small group exploring some forgotten ruin which Janus was commissioned by the University to help in the recovery of a lost scroll. His success also ensured his place as a field agent for the Order and the University. His dedication to magic was so ingrained that he started studying magic along with his priestly studies and as he grew in faith and power, so did his reputation. Then the Thay Lich played his hand and there was war in the land. Janus journeyed to the Dalelands to help as much as he could and when the Lich's forces fell Janus was as relieved as those around him. Now Syranna calls for those to take the war directly to Szass and Janus has asked to be part of this group. Character's Name: Uther
Race/Class: Variant Human Warlock (Celestial)
Backstory:
What do you get when you're a child of an angel? The holy blood flowing through his father's veins gave him great power, and he rose to great prominence in their community as a paladin, a renowned and trusted leader on and off the battlefield. He married a great mage of outstanding intellect and arcane might, who had been his companion for many years prior. What a power couple! Everyone nodded sagely and predicted that their child would be outstanding. Would he be a great warrior, a great mage - or both? Uther, they named him, after a hero of old.
But what do you get when you're a grandson of an angel? You're born with huge shoes to fill - and nothing to fill them with, apparently. He wanted to be a paladin like his father, but the order turned him away. "Too weak." He studied books of arcane lore like his mother but the mages turned him away. No talent, no power, no strength. Just an ordinary kid.
When they thought he could not hear, there were arguments. Recriminations. How can it be possible, his father wondered, that his child had none of his strength or holy power? Unless, of course, he wasn't actually his child... Uther couldn't stand it and left the home one day. He had enough to buy a lute, and got by performing in taverns for a few coins or sometimes just a meal. With practice and time, he became quite good at it. Eventually he grew homesick, and decided to return for a visit.
Just when he arrived, there was a demon attack. His father was battling some while his mother banished the others, but there were too many. He watched them be overwhelmed and fall. Reinforcements arrived just too late and mopped up the remaining monsters, but they could not raise dead. Holding his father's bloody hand, Uther had a vision. An angel, he assumed, stood on the other side of his father's corpse. When their eyes met, he felt it like a weight, judging him. What was he? A common minstrel. But he bore its gaze and gained its respect.
There, with his father's rapidly cooling body between them, they struck a deal. Uther would continue his father's service, and the Deva would grant him the power he would need to do it. Years passed, but service remained: evil was endless. Task after task after task, he performed, growing in experience and power. He still wasn't a great warrior or a great spellcaster, but others added "the Lightbringer" to his name. Finally, the Deva told him, there was one last thing he needed to do.
Zinna was no stranger to a fight. She’d grown up learning the ways to attack, command, distract, kill in battle from her father. She’d led a band of adventurers for three years doing just that. They’d saved a few small villages, nothing much, but when a certain group of red wizards attacked, Zinna’s group couldn’t stand against them. Quickly bound and made to kneel, Zinna couldn’t quite believe it when Szass Tam appeared before them through a rip in the sky.
They saw the victory the wizards had achieved, and the laugh she heard will haunt her soul forever. Approaching her bound friends, Szass looked at them before settling on her definitively striking features, her dark blue hair and light skin a sharp contrast to the more humanlike beings next to her. This thing bent towards her and whispered in her ear if she would like the chance to save what remained of her group and the village. It could give her that chance it said, but she would need to offer it something first, something very easy to give. All she’d need to do was give this awful creature her soul.
Looking at her friends, she had no choice but to agree. The words “Take it” had barely passed her lips when she felt it leave, the emptiness she immediately experienced unbearable. Szass seemed to enjoy her agony and laughed in that horrible way once more. She was wracked with so much pain that she couldn’t move. The lich place a gemstone a few feet in front of her and told her that this was her chance. If she simply touched the jewel, the wizards would retreat, but until she did, every minute someone would die. There were twenty people still alive including her companions.
She didn’t make it to the gem in twenty minutes. She struggled to crawl towards it, every inch making her body cry out in black out levels of pain, but the monster made her stay awake. Every time she passed out, she was brought back to consciousness, and attempted to crawl once more, forced to hear every death, every scream, until there were no more except her own. All she could do was keep crawling until she made it, until she grabbed the stone and was allowed into the blanket of unconsciousness.
When she woke up days later, the pain had lessened to the point that she could make it to her feet. She stayed up for three seconds before her legs gave out at the scene around her. Too gruesome for words, she could only lock it away in her head, force it down into the dark. She grabbed what she could from her friends, what their families would want, and weakly stumble and crawl away. It took weeks, but she returned them to their families. All she could do now was find a way to make Szass pay, and while that thing had her soul, she discovered something. She possessed a part of its power, and she was going to use it to destroy Szass Tam once and for all.

Name: Keir Greenley
Race: Shifter - Swiftstride
Class: Ranger 6 (Gloom Stalker)/Rogue 3 (Scout)
Backstory:
Keir grew up in a small Swiftstride clan. there were 4 families who travelled together from settlement to settlement. They stayed for a few days, to a few months over winter, offering their services to the locals. Some places accepted them with open arms, others looked on them with suspicion, but none refused them because their services were always needed. Keir was 6 when his father disappeared. The clan was travelling through a low marshland. One evening they set up camp, and the next morning 3 of their group, including Keir's father, were nowhere to be seen. There were no tracks, no sign of struggle, they had simply vanished. Rumour spread of creatures in the swamps that had swept in to take them. Keir noticed that his mother never took part in those rumours and she would often sit on their wagon and look silently into the setting sun. As an only child, Keir was forced to step up and take the responsibility of their families share of the work. This expectation from a young age turned Keir into a very serious person with little time for humour. As he reached the age of maturity Keir started to look at the world anew. His mother still looked on wistfully and under her breath, he could hear her whispering to her lost husband. "I know you will return to me," she would say as she tugged on the necklace she never removed. Over time, the rest of the clan cared less and less for the pain that she was going through and Keir felt more like an outsider. He felt evermore comfortable roaming the woods and the swamplands they passed through then travelling with the carts. Travelling through the woods one day the clan was met by a fur trapper who took him under his wing and he spent several years with him, learning the trade, learning to survive and exploring the world.
Backstory: Most githyanki languish aimlessly in their home city on the Astral Plane, waiting for orders to sally forth from their great Lich Queen Vlaakith. Lyzerath is not most githyanki. For years he has operated inside the secretive organization called the Sha’sal Khou, working towards the unification and reconciliation between the githyanki and their cousins the githzerai.
It has become clear to him that the single greatest obstacle to his goals is the Lich Queen herself, an ancient and powerful mage that rules with an iron fist. Defeating her would not be easy, and Lyzerath has countless hours experimenting and researching magic and artifice, searching for the key to defeat her. While inspired and something of a prodigy among his kind, the answer would not be found in Tu’nareth. He left the Astral Plane, searching the Material Plane for inspiration.
Eventually he caught Syranna’s attention, and he was quick to accept her offer. Defeating Szass Tam would be a tall order – but if he could slay one lich, perhaps he could slay a second.

Runwial a Shadar-Kai Monk Acolyte of the Raven Queen
Runwial is an orphan, who grew up trained by Shadar-Kai, worshipers of the Raven Queen. He doesn‘t know much about his mother, only that she sacrificed her life in a plea to the Raven Queen to save his life. So he was protected and grew up to serve the Queen in her crusade against all undead. When he heard about the Red Wizards in Daggerford, Runwial traveled there from Luskan to see if he can help to fight those undead necromancers.
Backstory: Riley lived with his Mother and Brother in a Log Cabin in the woods, away from all communities. At a young age, his mother was killed by raiders of some sort. As a 14 year old boy, he just ran with his brother. At the time, they were hunted. His brother was 3 years older than him, and taught him how to survive, finding their old home. One day, about 3 years later, his brother disappeared and never returned. This is when he realised his mother and brother worked with Criminals. He went to meet these criminals, and after working on a few things with them, one of which was a big breakout operation with ‘The Cleanup Crew’, He got in their good books, acquiring a level of respect with criminals his family worked with. His family home was damaged and trashed. He now wanders the roads of whatever town he comes across, sleeping in trees and in random places in the woods or even abandoned shacks if he’s so lucky. He kills rodents and animals to stay alive, never wanting to enter a town to stay there.

Character's Name: Ssej Marfedelom
Race/Class: Lizardfolk Monk
Backstory: The only life I have known is as a slave to the Red Wizards. I have no idea where I came from or even what my actual name is. The only name I have ever known is the one those evil creatures gave me. finally one day on an expedition we attacked a monastery and were defeated. I welcomed the freedom of death but the "Peace Bringers" monks decided to spare me and then raised me in their ways. At first I just assumed I was another slave and went about my duties diligently, but then I realized that I was not a slave but a welcomed member of the order. I took to my studies with a fever that even they were not accustomed to as the burning hot rage within me for the Red Wizards fueled my learning. Eventually I left the order seeking my revenge on the Red Wizards as I start to hunt them down wherever I go in my travels.
Background: After leaving his clan where he was raised thanks to being abandon by his parents, Atsuky at the age of 13 traveled around the world. Where ever he went he used the skills taught by his adoptive father the head of the clan to solve problems of villages and people who he saw in need, without leaving a shadow or a name. The only way to recognize his achievements was the card he left only once in each location to say he was there. Resolving so many problems as well as some crimes earned him the name Phantom. It is said even after 7 years his shadow grows.
