I've been hankering to do some world design, make some maps, and play some DnD. I figure some of you would be interested in at least one of those things.
I spent about 30 minutes putting together a new map at which point I realized it would be interesting to populate the map with things from character backstories to drive the world.
If you're interested in playing, post your character backstories, and what times you're available to play. We'll pick through see what meshes where and populate the world. If you're not interested in playing, but want to help populate the world, just throw me some content and tell me you're not interested in playing!
I want to play with you next day 1pm my character backstory he got abandon at age 13 he lives on the street for 6 years that it
I am interested. I am an rogue going to an assassin role playing as a bounty hunter/mercenary. I would like you to add an underground network for people on the "evil" side.
I'd be quite happy to play, although I'll admit the backstory I presently have for the character/class I'm looking to play is a fair bit generic. I'll start off with the class, if only because it helps explain the backstory. The class is a modification of the Artificer, built around the creation of modular puppets. Put simply, the class spends time and resources to create blueprints or to create parts from the blueprints it has on hand. Those parts are then used to create the aforementioned puppets, which, given GM flexibility, can easily fill roles in a party that are otherwise vacant. If the party needs a tank/frontline, the class can make bulkier, larger puppets meant to soak up damage. If they lack DPS, smaller puppets meant to act as rogues without sneak attack can fill the role. Sadly since I am returning to D&D, I'm still trying to find what race would suit the character best, since I wish to balance between having it being enjoyable to play and still keeping an Int bonus towards the part/puppet creation process. I'd also like to mention that I intend to stream the campaign I am in, so that is something to keep in mind. As long as that is fine, feel free to shoot a DM at me either here on D&D beyond or reach out to me via discord at Stonehaart#9241. You could also drop by the stream (I go live at 2PM CST) at https://www.twitch.tv/stonehaart. I recommend either discord or dropping into the stream, since both have a much better chance of a timely response (Given D&D beyond doesn't ping you when you have new messages.)
For the sake of clarity, we'll call the puppeteer in question Ignis. The backstory was simply that, after coming of age, Ignis went to attend an academy for mages, only to find that his magic was better suited being used on inanimate objects. Years of tinkering later, and the first of his Puppets was made, crudely formed and barely functional. Given the particular kind of magic being used, it attracted the attention of a lich who offered to teach Ignis how to better control his creations, seemingly out of the kindness of their heart. In time, the puppets were to be made for the purpose of serving the lich, but when told to command them to kill an innocent child, Ignis refused. This resulted in the lich branding him with what was effectively a beacon for the undead, drawing corpses from their graves to kill Ignis off. After all, with his body intact and his soul forced to do the lich's bidding, he would have such capable soldiers at his beck and call. Now on the run, Ignis is haunted by visions brought on by the brand, of the destruction the lich has in store for everything he held dear. Taunting him and leaving constant reminders that nothing in the world comes for free.
In terms of populating the world, I would say he would likely have been born on one of the smaller outlying islands, and went out on his own to avoid bringing the undead to his village, to spare them the fate that was in store for them.
If you are down with gunslingers or artificer with a pirate background I think one of those islands would make an amazing pirate city with dreams if stealing any vehicles crafts allowed in the world
Born in a village of Wood Elf's, Birel Aldenval lived a normal life. But, when he was 75 his whole family was killed by Orc's , he was able to escape but he was badly injured. Two days later a Human Wizard found him passed out on the floor. When he woke up he didn't understand where he was or why he lived with the family. While playing in the forest he fell down a hill and found a house home to a gnome. The gnome let him in to talk about each other. Birel tells him that his family was murdered by a gang of orc's and wants to get revenge. The gnome tells him that a similar thing happened to him but it was dragons so he was training as a ranger to get revenge. Birel wants to train with the gnome so he can get revenge. Twenty-five years later Birel thinks he is ready to leave, Said his goodbyes and left for his TRUE quest.

How bout an attack base gaurded by ancient bronze dragons and a town with a bar and alchemy shop
