Rum guides the horses down the side street next to the large three storey building which was The Gilded Oak Inn, and pulls up in front of the double door gate. The gate was adorned with similar signage to the building, an oak tree painted gold, and attached to one of the gate posts was a bell with a rope hanging down from the clapper.
Jumping down from the cart he rings the bell and after a few moments the gate is opened by a young, slender blue scaled dragonborn of the draconblood variety, who introduces himself as Yarbosk, the stable master of The Gilded Oak and son of the owners.
On hearing the group require lodgings for the night, Yarbosk ushers them into a large courtyard area with a long lean-to covering one wall, sizeable enough to keep two or three carts or carriages dry. There is a stable opposite containing a number of stalls of different sizes for the various kinds of mounts that need caring for. Stable hands are called and a pair of older teenage human boys rush out to take charge of the animals.
Yarbosk directs the party to the rear door of the inn which leads through an antechamber, containing stairs to the upper floors and a door to the kitchen, on into a large common room. Against the wall they entered from was a long bar, opposite which was the main entrance to the inn, flanked by a number of large windows letting in ample light. To one side of the room, set against the wall, was a stage area suitable for a small band of musicians to play, and on the other wall was a large fireplace above which was an equally large mural of an oak grove. The oak tree in the centre of the grove was painted gold.
Tables were placed throughout the room with a few booths against the walls for those wanting a bit of privacy. The place is fairly quiet with only a couple of tables taken. A middle aged female dragonborn with striking yellow gold coloured scales and long tail is leaning across the bar speaking to a male dragonborn, this one with blue scales like Yarbosk. Also like Yarbosk they are both slender and under 6’ tall, not of the larger breed of dragonborn. The male spots the group and nods in their direction, and the female turns to them, approaching with a smile that spreads across her face from frill to frill.
Lelith did not feel the need to speak. She has already spoken more these few days than she has in a month. She merely crossed her arms, while leaning on one leg, and waited for the others to speak. She inspected the inn, the people in it, and the owners carefully, however. Her gaze may look unfriendly to some if they caught it but she was keeping herself behind her party members for now.
Greko smiles a warm smile to the Dragonborn walking over "Hello I am Greko the Green but you may call me Greko. We would like rooms for the night. Do you have any available?"
"Oh of course of course!" The Dragonborn says as she steps up in front of the band. She smiles, backing away and ushering the whole group through the door with little 'come along' motions of her hands. "The Gilded Oak is quiet tonight for some reason, but I'd say when the fleet comes back in a few days we'll be as busy as ever. You picked a good, peaceful night you did. What boarding arrangements will you need? I mean, stables, how many rooms? And can I get you some food or drinks? Or are you ready for bed hm?"
She leads them into the center of the common room. There are only a few other's inside. There's a bard near the hearth strumming a harp gently and without lyrics. A dwarf is drinking with an elf in the back corner, their hands clasped together on the tabletop. The silver haired elf didn't even bother to turn around and look, but his lover, a redheaded dwarf with a full beard, glanced at the band for only a second.
Alone in a corner as far away from the others as he can get is a Tiefling priest. He's hunched over, whispering to the shadow of the corner.
Rum interjects, “We left our animals and cart with your son in the courtyard. We will need one room for the ladies with two beds, and if you have a room with four beds that would then be enough”.
“I believe some or all of us have errands to run before we eat, but will be back shortly”, he says looking at each of the others for approval of the room situation and errands, before the large mural with the golden oak tree catches his eye.
“What is this Gilded Oak you are named for?”, he asks curiously.
A dwarf is drinking with an elf in the back corner, their hands clasped together on the tabletop. The silver haired elf didn't even bother to turn around and look, but his lover, a redheaded dwarf with a full beard, glanced at the band for only a second.
Lelith broke off from the band to approach the dwarf-elf couple. Her fists clenched in fury but by the time she arrived, all signs of anger had been driven away from her body language. She looked relaxed and friendly. "Greeting. I hope I am not interrupting anything."
Lelith took down her hood to reveal her noble features. Her eyes a pale blue that seemed to glow slightly were fixated on both of them, she offered a warm smile to not frighten them. "I wish to speak for a few moments with the both of you if you would allow me the time."
Yam notices when Lelith breaks off, and the clenched fist when she begins to approach the couple. She's not sure what's going on, but she doesn't like where this is going. She almost begins to move in to get in Lelith's path when she notices how the Elf's changes her demeanour. Did she misjudge her intentions? Unsure, she keeps watching for the moment, waiting to see how the events will unfold. She's so used to solving conflicts and dealing with aggressors, she wonders if she sees signs of aggression even where they don't exist. Perhaps she really has become too old.
Greko watches Lelith walk with clenched fists and tenses up. He looks to see if anyone else has noticed and sees Yam watching. He says to Yam"Perhaps we will have to pull our companion out of this situation? We can't be getting into spats with townfolk"
"Hold on, she changed her approach. Let's observe, for the moment. Jumping to conclusions is a bad way to act, even when trying to prevent violence." Yam answers quietly. She's glad she's not imagining things, though. "But yes, if something happens, I'm ready to pull her away."
"Vraylish, two rooms. One with double beds and one for four." The Dragonborn lady says, looking back to her partner as he finishes wiping a stack of plates that are sitting in front of him. He rises and steps off toward the stairs.
"What are we named after?" She says in a friendly manner to answer Rum. "There's a legend, you know, just a local one, that once a century there is an oak tree that appears in the nearby Oak Grove that is golden. It's a long story, or so's I think, but it's quite a legend, you know? A tree set in gold. Wouldn't that be a thing? In all a world of special trees, we have one right here in Riverwood."
The Elf and the Dwarf both look back at Lelith as she approaches. Both are smiling, but the Elf looks a little uneasy as soon as he turns to face Lelith.

"Can I help you?" The silver haired elf asks.
"There's no need to worry, you will find no danger from a fellow elf," Lelith reassured with a smile. "Are you Hylian? Most elves are from there. I am visiting Hylia on some important task, you see. I would like to ask some questions as I am not as familiar with the land there as I wish I was. And, possibly, if you were open for some work. I would like to hire you as a guide."
The Elf keeps smiling, but looks sidelong at his partner.
"I grew up in the Kokiri Forest, yes. My people have a village there." He says, unsure of what is happening. His hand tightens around his partners hand, but the Dwarf looks unconcerned. His gaze is cold and flat and directly on Lelith like he's suspicious of something. "I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I'm interested in being your guide miss...well. I didn't hear your name. But, you see, we are on our honeymoon, I guess you would call it, and we prefer not to be disturbed."
“I believe some or all of us have errands to run before we eat, but will be back shortly”, he says looking at each of the others for approval of the room situation and errands, before the large mural with the golden oak tree catches his eye.
Ro nods his head in agreement with Rum's room arrangements.
Ro notices Lelith's initial hostility as she approached the couple. The elf-dwarf gulped hard, worried of what may occur. Ro especially sympathized with the couple given that they were much like his own parents, of dwarven and elven blood. He then let out a sigh of relief seeing Lelith change her approach. He was genuinely surprised by Lelith with her display of ability earlier at the docks, but it seems her surprises weren't done yet. Ro overhears Yam and Greko's conversation and is relieved to hear that he wouldn't have to deal with Lelith alone should anything go awry. For the meantime Ro stands with the older duo, silently observing Lelith's interaction with the couple.
Rum smiles at the dragonborn lady, “It would be a sight to behold, but I would be afraid that it’s leaves and acorns would be stripped bare in no time were people to find it. The folly and greed of us all”, he saysthoughtfully.
He turns back to the group. “I will return shortly, I have an errand to run but I will be back for dinner” he says, noticing most of the others watching Lelith in conversation with the elf and dwarf.
“Is there anything I can help you with whilst we are in town Tuto, anything you need? Or you can join me if you like?”, he asks the gnome, aware that not being able, or wanting, to speak would make shopping a challenge.
He waits for Tuto’s response, then gets directions for the nearest blacksmith from the dragonborn lady, and heads out the front door.
The Elf keeps smiling, but looks sidelong at his partner.

Lelith's expression did not change at the mention of a honeymoon. "Congratulations to both of you. A dwarf and an elf is not a match I see every day. I apologize for not introducing myself earlier. Myself and my companions are quite in a hurry to reach Hylia, we may be going tomorrow by ship. As such we are operating on a tight schedule. I am Arelis."
Lelith noticed the suspicious gaze of the dwarf, she put her hands to the side clear for them to see. She whispered to them. "I understand that you're likely to encounter difficulties for being an unconventional couple. However, I am unconcerned by that. I am an Eladrin, you see, as you've probably noticed." She directed the last words to the elf. "The material plane and their ways are none of my concern. Can you keep that a secret for me? I do not wish for my companions to know. I would really appreciate that."
"I worry that I have extended my time with you too much and your tolerance may be wearing thin." Lelith smiled ruefully. "Before I go, may I know your names? It is only fair after I gave you mine."
Greko continues to watch Lelith confused, unsure what they are trying to accomplish while talking to Yam "What do you suppose Lelith is trying to do over there?"
Yam keeps watching, but as she sees no conflict arrising, she is put at relative ease. "I'm not sure. Maybe asking for directions? Perhaps we misjudged what we thought we saw at first. I can't say I met many Elves, despite my home hill being in Hylia. They traverse tunnels as much as we Dwarves walk the trees."
The couple look at each other, then back to this woman who has just identified herself as Arelis the Eladrin. It's clear they're no longer sure what to do.
"I...uh...thank you..." The Elf says when she congratulates them. His jaw is slowly dropping as she talks, and he's unsure of what to do with the information she is giving him. "We...we're Legolas and Gimli. I'm Legolas. He's Gimli."
He motions to the redheaded dwarf, who doesn't look happy that his identity has been revealed.
"Lady, what is it that you want?" Gimli says, speaking up when his husband gets flustered. He's not being quiet. "Two guides to Hylia when we're on the other side of the world from there? What do you want us to do? Give up everything we're wanting to do just so you can have a guide!?"
"Calm down, Gimli. I'm sure she meant no harm." Legolas says, leaning forward to eyeball Arelis a little closer. He whispers. "An Eladrin you say...I believe I see it now. But...what is it you want? Surely you didn't just walk into an inn and ask the first person you met to be your guide, and Elves are everywhere in the world. You can't find someone else that isn't honeymooning?"

"I just received your refusal, didn't I? I was about to go away after you would've hopefully politely introduced yourselves." Lelith looked confused now. "Either way, you were truly the first elf I've seen since I have been in Riverwood. The wilderness between settlements is unsurprisingly barren sometimes. My path was rather straightforward from the docks to here once I secured a way to God's Eye. Inns often held people interested in work or so I was led to believe... I thought it would be a good excuse for you to see your homeland, perhaps? I have not really thought this through. I am unfamiliar with the customs of the material plane."
"Adventure would make for a good honeymoon, would it not? The wild sea? Seafood, perhaps?" Lelith poked. "Or perhaps, you'd like me to shut up and go away now?"
“Is there anything I can help you with whilst we are in town Tuto, anything you need? Or you can join me if you like?”, he asks the gnome, aware that not being able, or wanting, to speak would make shopping a challenge.
"Mm mm...Oo! O." Tuto shook his head at the offer and then held out a thumbs up. There were just too many interesting people here, everything else could wait.
Though occupied with playfully bobbing and weaving through tables, chairs and occasional legs, Tuto is making sure he is within a couple strides away from each of his new friends, should anything go wrong. And he couldn't help but groan at this seemingly one sided conversation happening just a few feet away. With a giggle, Tuto prances over to Lelith and gives her cloak a gentle tug. "Oooo. O. O. Oo. O." He takes a step and a half back, still holding onto her cloak, and gestures for her to crouch down close.
When she does, Tuto will pull out a peice of rolled up parchment and unfurl it, revealing a drawing. The first is of two stick figures, one happy and one angry. The next below is the happy figure holding out a sack of gold. The third picture is both figures smilling and talking. He holds out his own sack of gold. And before she could get the idea that he is infering to the honeymooners he gives the cloak another tug as if to say 'Not them'.
