So my player and I were talking, and based off his character he wants to be able to make an attack using a ki point that he would be able to also had his strength to his attack and damage rolls, he's flavoring his monk as a boxer. Which I'm okay with this idea, but I can't seem to make it as an action on his character sheet. I want to recreate the unarmed strike but in a way that I can add to the rolls. I want to make the custom action show up just like it is below so I can modify the to attack and damage bonus, which I can't seem to do when I make a custom action but I can modify it on the pre-made unarmed strike.
I actually just had a good idea to fix this, it come to me right after I made this post. So what I did was made a custom action to make his unarmed strike as it normally is. Then the normal unarmed strike I was able to edit and add to the attack and damage rolls.
Unarmed strikes can already use strength for attack and damage.
The Martial Arts feature that monks get enables them to use Dexterity OR Strength for unarmed attacks, it does not exclude the possibility of using Strength.
Or did you just want to add the strength bonuses on top of the dexterity bonuses?
I want to add the strength bonus on top of the dex bonus. One of my players is playing a monk, but flavoring everything as his character is a boxer trying to become the champion. So him and I made a home brew attack that costs one Ki and allows him to add his strength mod to attack and damage rolls. So I was trying to find a way to make an unarmed strike that would allow me to add a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls. When you make a custom action you don’t get that option to add bonuses. What we ended up doing was making a custom action for his normal attack, and then using the actual unarmed strike that was already in the character sheet for his custom attack, because the unarmed strike that’s already there has the option to add bonuses to attack and damage rolls.
