The autumn winds greet the city of Waterdeep the day after Liar's Night. It was the afternoon when the group gathered together at the Yawning Portal. Given how they had became acquainted the night before during a quest to solve a mystery at the O'Vana's farm, the five of them found comfort with one another.
Terra 'Cid' Stormheart, a half-elf investigator with innate magical abilities. Faerastra Faefyra, an eladrin elf, who's usually seen within the pages of text, a seeker of knowledge. Lustrum Gustos, a walking suit of armor, though truly he is a construct who is just as a mystery as his past. Nave Lueltaen, a dark elf always hidden beneath his cloak in and out of the city. And lastly Drip Drop, a kenku, a flightless bird with skills to draw blood, whether an enemy or his own.
After a sudden attack from a troll, the group was confronted by a man by the name of Volothamp Geddarm, who asked of their help locating his friend Floon Blagmaar who had gone missing. After accepting the quest, the group heads out and tracks the whereabouts of Floon to a warehouse that belong to the Zhentarim, however it seem the Zhentarim were attacked by kenkus sent by the Xanathar guild. After skirmishing with the kenkus, the heroes rescued Renaer Neverember, son of the previous Open Lord Dagult Neverember. After speaking with him, the group finds out that Floon's capture was more or less a mistake to his identity, the Black Network wanted Renaer, trying to get information out of him concerning his father and an item called the Stone of Golorr which is some kind of key to finding Renaer's father's cache of hidden gold.
After the guards arrived to handle the crime scene, the heroes head to the Yawning Portal to discuss what is to be done next. Though the heroes suggested for Renaer to remain in the tavern, the young man seem to be anxious and attempted to head out the door in search of his friend, but was quickly cut off by Faerastra the eladrin.
"Hey, Renaer! Hold up!" called the eladrin as she ran out of the tavern. She would run before the wealthy human and spend but a second to catch her breath from the unexpected sprint. "Look... I know you're worried and in a rush, and we are too, but... sadly that fight with the kenku took us by surprise and we exhausted more than we thought we would. If we go now, my ability to heal has been expended to it's fullest and I fear we risk not only your life and your friend's, but ours as well." She pauses for a moment with one finger held up as if saying to wait. "I'm fully for heading out now, but we can't go unprepared. Do you know a way we can gather up a few potions to make up for my inexperience as a healer...? We'd be much better prepared to face what may come then." (in case persuasion is needed, 8 )
Upon seeing the Eladrin make for the door Nave quickly follows hearing the last of the conversation he chines in saying "I am in full agreement with this one *gesturing to the bookish elf* To venture out now is suicide and I actually Value my existence unlike you it seems *he then gestures to the human*
Not having followed either elf in pursuit of their employer, the warforged instead engages in a quick conversation with the bartender.
"Query: Would there be some repository of knowledge where information about the stone of Golorr can be found? Or any information at all that may give us a direction to purse the kidnappers?"
For a moment Terra eye'd the group her mind preoccupied with how to take in all the new information she had learned. A man mistaken for another and kidnapped? It wouldn't be long until the mistake itself was noticed meaning they needed to act fast and think. The Black Network, Xanathar's Guild, and the Zhentarim. These names didn't mean much to her, but there was one person they might mean something to. Taking small notes in her little booklet she followed behind Nave, determined to see if he knew anything of these names, or at least knew where to look.
Upon stepping outside she looked between the noble and the two elves, eyebrow raised.
"Not to interrupt but.. Nave, you know the more... underground groups of people in the city than I do. Do any of the names mentioned mean anything to you. Mainly the Black Network.. I have a feeling time might not be on our side... Especially if whoever commanded those birds catches wind we aren't dead... Any ideas you have I am willing to hear.. we are friends after all, are we not?"
Moving to join his few companions by the recently rescued human drip drop looks to his current group. I like them he thought looking from each of them one by one silently making his own observations of them. This colorful elf creature and her obvious kindness was foreign to the bird, and the dark elf he was his favorite how many hours would he get from this ones voice her wondered. Alas finally the impromptu investigator she seemed to skirt the moral line almost as much as Nave did and she was also quite fun, he will learn much he decided at length and if he got to kill somethings on the way an added bonus!
Skirting up beside the group he puts his hand covers by his lengthy robe out in front of him in a technique he’d seen done in guard groups and people who needed a morale boost. He gestured for them all to join him eyeing them all for a brief second. “Birds of a feather!” He says in his new favorite line picked up from an imp disguised as a crow. He awaited the moment they could all raise their hands together and shout with glee.
Renaer Neverember halted in his tracks and faced the oncoming, elegant elf, what she had said made the noble rethink his action and the comment of the cloaked elf made him feel all the more uneasy... but they were right. Renaer would have been walking into his death all because he was impatient, but time ticks and the longer Floon remain in the clutches of the Xanathar's guild, the more likely he would be dead. "I Understand, I'll keep to the local districts and out of trouble" he released his grip on his dagger and sheathed it. "As for the potions, there is an herbalists shop in Trollskull Alley in the North Ward" he said, trying to keep his posture as a nobleman and hiding his unease. He looked down at the cloaked kenku who said it's favorite line which made Renaer smile slightly, "I hope you all find him."
The night sky was deep, only the stars were out shining down upon the city, the new moon made the night all the more intense. The cold air was bearable, though it kept any wandering souls away from the streets for too long.

Meanwhile, The warforged approached Durnan with a question to which the barkeep replied "Stone of Golorr? Honestly never heard of it, and as for the 'Kidnappers' your group and Volo had been talking about, I'm not sure where you can find them, I put all that questing behind me, so I don't get involved in anybody's business but my own" he puts away a clean mug and picks up another and begins to clean it with his rag, "But I wish you luck in finding the lad."

With time ticking and little information at hand, the group must now figure out where Floon is and when they will continue their search
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The Eladrin sigh and looks down. "... He's right though, we do need to act fast... The longer we wait, the higher the chances of him being found out and killed." She looks to the sky for a moment, then places her hand gently on the kenku's with a smile before pulling it back. "I need to ask a favor of Durnan, will you use your other hand in place of mine and we'll have a one on one cheer later to make up for missing this one?" She gently pats his head before playfully ruffling his head feathers and rushing into the bar.
Once inside, she would quickly approach Durnan with her usual warm demeanor. "Hey, I hate to ask this of you but... Could you by chance lemme know any way we could get some cheap potions in case of emergency need? While I hate going out while so worn down and it being so dark, he is right... Time is against his friend, and I don't want a good man's blood on my hands..." (Again, in case persuasion is needed or deemed neccesary: 21 )
Looking over to Terra "Though you may be right, I have not had the time to circulate through my connections just yet but I will" he then moves past Neverember moving down the street through the night toward the Dock Ward with quiet purpose keeping his cowl pulled low moving from door to door seeking information in regards to The Black Network and Xanathar's Guild he circled back towards the Yawning Portal letting forth a low whistle calling for the Drip Drop then continued his rounds
The warforged stands, anchored to his position pondering all that has occurred. This city was just that, a city, and filled with many places to hide and move without being seen. The lack of information has basically placed it with no true path to follow, even when time was limited as to the survivability of their quarry. With the friendly bartender unable to provide direction, the warforged is left with only pursuing the minds of those who might know this time more.
'Perhaps' Lustrum pondered silently 'I should have remained active and learned of this dark time. I know nothing of this Guild, this stone or even why anything is happening...This will be most difficult.'
Perhaps his new companions and the tree walker would know more, of at least a direction for which to pursue further knowledge.
Biting her lip Terra looked up at the night sky. Nothing in this city ever goes as plan does it. Irritably she itches at her right arm, lightly bandaged the mark glows with her frustration. Sitting still has never been her strong suit.
Walking back inside she approached the few people of the party.
"Many of you took a hit, do you wish to rest for an hour to bandage our wounds and recover our pride? I don't think we can afford much more time than that... Unless.."
She glances over at Obaya, for a moment before approaching, "Will you perhaps aid us so we can find this lost person? I know it is a lot to ask but I could offer a portion of the reward I get to you as payment for your services.. I hope it is not presumptuous to assume you can mend our wounds?"
