I posted this is Homebrew & House Rules but i figured anyone who plays Beast Master would like this as well. So I will just post the link and the main changes I think would make Beast Master feel better. The descriptions below are just the changes i would add and not the whole thing. That is in the Link.
Add your proficiency bonus to the beast’s AC, attack rolls, and damage rolls, difficulty class (DC) checks it imposes, as well as to any saving throws and skills it is proficient in.
Its hit point maximum equals the hit point number in its stat block or four five(5) times your ranger level, whichever is higher.
The beast counts as a player for rules regarding Dropping to 0 Hit Points.
If given the Attack command, the beast will attempt to take the Attack action against the target on each of it's turns until told to stop(no action required by you) or until you give it a new command.
Exceptional Training

Death Saving throws does not need an errata. It is entirely the DM's choice if any NPC gets saving throws or not with the recommendation from rulebooks that important NPCs get one.
What the beast really needs is to get proficiency in saving throws, as currently, no beast with 1/4 CR or lower has any proficiency in saving throws. As beasts with barding already get 21+ AC what really hinders their survivability is spells and other effects that target saving throws, there having 20 HP wouldn't actually help much.
P.S. also your poll is either "I loved X" or "I don't think you went far enough"...
Thank you. I never played high level games as or with a Beast Master so i didn't see the issue with saving throws. Maybe switching the Hunter's Mark feature to level15 (because damage possible would be quite high at level 7) and putting Saving Throw proficiency on Exceptional Training would be better. A beast trained by a Ranger would be proficient in the same Saving Throws as the Ranger sounds right to me. So STR and DEX Saving Throws (Maybe others if feats are allowed and Ranger takes another Saving Throw proficiency). Does that sound right to you?
