There are no inherent abilities or traits gained by simply being a particular creature type in 5th edition (i.e. you don't get some kind of damage reduction just for having the construct tag).
What tags do accomplish, though, is to show that a creature counts as that particular creature type for any game mechanics which call out a type and assign a particular detail (i.e. something tagged "fiend" takes additional damage from the Paladin smite feature, or something tagged "construct" suffers no effects of the blight spell).
So if you are playing a race that is tagged as construct, you might want to make sure there is something else going on that accommodates that not being a huge drawback on account of spells like cure wounds not having an effect upon your character.

The race i'm playing has the construct tag, would that mean i have all the abilities and traits a construct has?
Are you playing a warforged? Because it's a living construct and generally tells you what that means.
