Pretty straight forward really, I've got lore books for basically the entire continent of Faerun, Kara-Tur a Zakhara (Al-Qadim), Maztica as well as a bit of homebrew (very well done) on Ancharome (The sundered realms on DMsGuild). Curious if anyone else is doing anything similar?
I'm thinking of moving Osse a little northward and replacing it with Tal'Dorei (Critical Role/Green Ronin), moving the land mass above Ancharome south and west to become the "wildemount" section of Tal'Dorei, and then moving Katashaka Westward with the two smaller island land masses.
If anyone has suggestions on settings that could work nicely for Katashaka (Not too fussed about theme, I've got pretty well everything already with the existing FR stuff) or the two islands, that'd be great! Maybe Midgard once Kobold release it. Man that would be a mega planet...
But thought that this could be a cool discussion about creating a "homebrew" world based on existing materials! I know making your own world is a lot of fun and is very satisfying, but I thought a fully detailed planet would be super cool. It means I can give a map to my players and go, where do you want to go? And if they say, OH THAT ISLAND!!! We're going there! Instead of saying, "the island is devoid of life... there is nothing but trees... And a tarrasque... ummmm rocks fall you all die!", I can say, "sure thing, that's XYZ, we'll pick this up next session as you make your way over!" Throw in a trip, make the next session the travel and throw in some encounters, and then by the time they get there, you've read up enough to have it sorted out!

That is an amazing idea. Not just being able to hand the players a world map, having a world map. (You may or may not have just found the biggest flaw in my DMing technique.)

Well if I get enough Interest, I might cobble one together, or commission one... I feel like combining Forgotten Realms, Tal'Dorei and something like Kobold's Midgard could be of interest to some people as they're probably the three biggest settings for 5e out there. Midgard would need to be chopped out a little bit, but it's a bit more detailed as a whole as opposed to something like Frog God's Lost Lands (Though I might throw Bard's Gate on a continent somewhere).
I've done worlds like that before. Most recently it was 3 continents I had home-brewed, a continent that was the setting in which Rappan Athuk sits (before the consolidation efforts Frog God Games started for their setting material), another that was the Rokugan setting, and a relatively small continent that was basically the lands of Hyrule from The Legend of Zelda home-brewed up a bit.
I don't do that any more, though, because the settings that I'm currently very deeply interested and invested in do not even kind of play well together so trying to treat them as merely separate continents on the same world requires far too much work and leaves far too many unanswerable questions.
But, each of those settings happen to be a relatively fully-detailed world so it doesn't end up feeling like the players can wander out of bounds and leave me to scramble together something to fill in the blank (settings I'm currently into, and use separately: Kingdoms of Kalamar, Mystara/Hollow World, and The Scarred Lands).
