If can provide a good reason for the deviation then will may let it slide. On the other hand you may need to take a lvl in wiz to get the spell or take the feat magic initiate and get it that way.

If he took the lvl in wiz or magic initiate he wouldn't get the extra familiar options which was what he wanted to know.

If I am a warlock and I dont take pact of the chain but I have the find familiar spell can i have an special form familiar (imp, quasit, pseudodragon)
