Hear ye, hear ye!
UPDATE: Apply by replying to the tweet here: https://twitter.com/DnDBeyond/status/1042805604207669249
Beginning on Thursday, September 20th at 9 am PT, Strix will begin accepting applications to join the Chicken Foot Coven!
Apply to secure one of three guest star spots on the October 9th episode of Dice, Camera, Action! with Dungeon Master Chris Perkins!
To apply and enter to win, complete the following steps:
- Create a 5th-level character on D&D Beyond (character builder). All classes and races have a chance to be accepted - so barbarian, fighter, rogue, or anything other kind of coven members are welcomed! Apparently the coven will mostly be baking pies.
- Reply to the @DnDBeyond pinned tweet on Thursday, September 20th that will ask for applications with a link to your DDB character and a passionate, stirring, but oh-so-brief (because of Twitter character restrictions) application with why your character has what it takes to join the Chicken Foot Coven.
- Entries close on Monday, September 24th at 6pm PT, and three winners will be chosen and announced during the Tuesday, September 25th episode of DCA by Holly Conrad. The three winners will be chosen based on their application tweet reply to guest star on the October 9th episode of Dice, Camera, Action! alongside Strix herself!
Tymora's blessing upon you - we look forward to all the sub-optimal applications!
Should have probably stipulated you need a webcam to participate.
They can always use a still.
True, a still photo and mic would work.
I've thrown my hat in the ring. Here's hoping!
I would have loved to sign up, but … sadly I have to buy the books to get the races for any of my more "Vanilla" friendly characters and as such I cannot enter. I really wish I could but sadly because they didn't allow temporary opening to such other races for this contest rather than the core ones (with a few from volo's but not the ones I use/used), and now I am very very sad that I couldn't at least try to enter (I just refuse to pay for the dang books since I already own em digitally and physically). D;
Find a friend that it has access to campaign and the you know put up just Internet campaign to put you on the list and then you'll have access to everything they have in their resources.
Sucks that i work on the 9th of October, so i wont be applying. :( maybe next time
Just read this on Monday, September 24th at 6:02 PCT! Hope there are more opportunities like this, and congrats to whoever gets featured!
I'm fairly new to DnD Beyond, and am only using the options presented to me with a free account. I notice that there are many discrepancies with the character builder, that are not available in the Player's Handbook.
Taking the Variant Human Race, when presented with my list of available feats, I only get Grappler and 'Svirfneblin Magic'? Surely, my humanity is not so variable such that I can cast deep gnome magic?
Additionally, the Charlatan background is not available to choose. When I attempted to customize a background to provide the options in the PHB, it does allow me the choice of 2 skills and 2 tools, but the generation process does not actually let me select which of those the character has.
When selecting my Warlock class, I am only presented one Patron choice, The Fiend.
As someone who has invested in the entire 5e hardcover library, finding these gaps in character generation is a detractor in considering investing in online tools such as DnD Beyond. Are these issues a symptom of free accounts? What am I missing?
You can buy them on dndbeyonds store. dnd gives you what you need to make any class of character but not every subclass it also doesn't provide all the spells feats or background but both of these can be remidied by creating them translated from your hardcover books many of the subclasses can be created by editing the pre existing one as all subclasses have an improvement at the same levels (except you mastermind damn your extra proficiency ps it's a rogue subclass but I'm not to sure if it's the mastermind that gets an extra ability at lv 3)
after all they are a site that makes making characters fun and easy and if they gave everything away why would people buy dnd books anymore.
Ps Trust me I know background are a pain in the a** to create don't try to make the outlander (shivers at memory)
*edited : Thanks for the reply.. I see now that there still is a purchase option for PHB, both as an entire book, as well as individual components. I was mistaken in my impression that the PHB was the freebie.. and additional books were purchased.
Cheers.
Bummer! I just saw CR for the first time last night (the final fight with Vecna) and finally understand how cool streamed D&D sessions are...if only I had an available ninth-level spell slot. A guy can wish, right?
Lol chicken foot was my first email I wish I saw this sooner.
