I am in a campaign soon. And they are allowing a feature called multiracing. (taking the high and low ability scores and a combination of racial features from 2 races) But anyways I want to try to be a insanely tanky artificer multiclass (not ADND).
Did you have a question? Artificer with its medium armor proficiency can make for a very fancy AC value, can equip a shield, and then at level 2 add the infusion for +1 defense.
The most tanky is going to be Armorer. They get Heavy Armor proficiency that doesn't have any strength requirement, the ability to grant yourself THP as a bonus action, and built in weapons that use Int (so the only stats that you really need are Int and Con).
Take Enhanced Armor for your armor and Arcane Repulsion Shield for your shield and you have a very respectable AC. If you really want to be tanky, dip a level into Fighter for Second Wind and the Defensive fighting style (this requires a 13 in Dex, which should be your 3rd stat anyway just for saves and Initiative).

Hill Dwarf and Warforged mix : extra HP and +1 AC, +2 con and +1 int, resistance to poison and immunity to sleep and disease.
Take the tough feat.
A cyborg dwarf armorer artificer is also a very cool concept.
You can also infuse a Cloak of Protection along the way, and eventually a Ring of Protection
2024 species updates no longer work that way.
The OP said that they still use those rules at their table, and asked advice about them.
Where in the OP does it say that? I'm not seeing it. *Shrug
I must have missed it in the wording.
