So there's a Throwdown thread going on and barbarians are quite popular (you could say that they are 'all the rage') and it got me thinking. The Persistant rage ability at lvl 15 allows you to ignore the conditions for when a rage stops (like the one minute time limit or not taking damage for a round) and basically rage until you choose not to or you fall unconcious.
Now my question is, what is there to stop a barbarian to basically wake up, rage, and then rage for the rest of the day for some nice damage resistances and advantage on Strength stuff? I imagine this could be used for all kinds of interesting shennanigans, both for PCs and NPCs. Imagine a paranoid chieftain of a tribe of warriors (or tyrannic king, for that mattr) who is always on guard, short in temper and quick to anger. Or an unstopping religious fanatic (Path of Zealot) who, even though mortally wounded, keeps struggling through the wilderness day and night to reach a healer who can save them (before the gain too many levels of exhaustion). Or, on the less serious side, a bear totem barbarian working as a fire fighter running in and put of bruning buildings all day or mountain rescuer, slogging through snow and ice to help lost hikers.
What do you think, does it work and how would you use it? Also, would you expect som kind of limitations or penalties for constantly raging? One could argue to "raging" isn't the same as being angry and that it could just be the barbarian being super focused, like a hunter or samurai blocking out anything but the upcoming kill.
Rage still lasts a minute. Persistent rage just means it can't end before that minute is up. So, no, unless you're level 20 and rage every 30 seconds (just so it doesn't wear off).

Persistant rage last for as long as you want.
'Your rage now only ends EARLY if you cancel it as a bonus action or fall unconscious. '
So it still lasts a minute, this just removes the need to attack a hostile creature.

incorrect. rage lasts a minute. normally it ends early if you don't attack or take damage. persistent rage just means you can go a turn without attacking or taking damage and not lose rage but after ten rounds, it still ends.
