As far as I know shortswords are martial weapons but how come shortswords only show the properties finesse and light?
edit: it only shows as martial when you're looking at its properties in inventory but when you check for its properties as a weapon in actions some weapons don't show the full list of properties they hold.
edit: its when you click on the item and the side panel comes up that it doesn't know consistent properties of the weapon.
Consistency is kind of important since not everyone is going to be as meticulous to notice these things and it causes disputes sometimes. Small quality of life thing but it can sometimes cause delays.

It is because the designers lack the foresight and have huge misconceptions about natural language and technical language.
Anyways, there are two "properties" here. There is the everyday meaning of property that people use to mean something like a trait or description, and there is the game term "property". In game teams, "martial" and "simple" are not "properties", they are classifications/categories of "weapons". "Weapon properties" only include the following: Ammunition Finesse Heavy Light Loading Range Reach Special Thrown Two-Handed Versatile
