It’s done and so did everyone I play D&D with and DM for, it’s over 20 people in just my sphere of influence. I can’t imagine what the fans of popular creators can do. Please go through and watch any number of videos on YouTube they explain it far better than I can in a forum page. The OGL 1.0/1.0A saved D&D and created a community of dedicated people working to make D&D successful and better. Wizards/hasbro only see the community as an obstacle to profit.
As I was typing this I got a text from a friend of mine that owns a game store they had an unsubscribe party and over 150 people unsubscribe there alone within the last 2 hours! Just in my local area.
My love for the game isn’t lost. Just the direction of wizards/hasbro. If there’s a full 180 and they completely forget about this current direction within 24 to 48 and publicly go on the record that they missed up and they never try this again, maybe just maybe they hold half their fans. It’s a very bad look a year out from their VTT launching where they want fans to deal with micro transactions good luck. D&D isn’t a video game and the community doesn’t deal with intrusive and abusive practices.
So true. The leaked OGL 2.0 is just stuffed with double speak, falsehoods and blatant lies. The TTRPG community isn’t going to stop it’s not going to die down. The community is going to move on to new systems/games killing One D&D before it launches. Just as 4th edition failed to capture the market, One D&D will fail without the community embracing it. Here’s now Wizards/hasbro should have increased revenue… leave OGL 1.0A alone and create 1.0B with the only difference being that third party developers could sell there content on D&D beyond and the VTT for A REASONABLE Percentage!!! Wizards/hasbro no more than 10% NET!!!!!! income! Which would breakdown as 5% for hosting fee and 5% for accessibility to D&D beyond/the VTT. I’d love to have Ghostfires games ,Grim Hallow on D&D beyond. This would be the only change. Nothing outside of D&D Beyond/ the VTT.
On a second look wizards could make more from third player products from the ability to play the campaigns/adventures of third party developers on the upcoming VTT. Programming/designing and implementing the content into 3d battle maps. That you could charge more for WITHIN REASON! I’d say up to 40% since your Actually doing work!, Hosting, and providing the platform for use. The community would most likely get behind this. To repeat 10% for D&D beyond access/hosting of digital books, 40% on VTT adventures, And 0% !!! On everything else! Hell I’d give full access to all your classes, magic, items, and worlds to third party developers long with access to One D&D so you could have a consistent stream of new sellable content throughout the years! The fact is you don’t produce enough content to keep a viable business model. D&D isn’t and will never be Fortnite your average customer isn’t a screaming child, skins and loot boxes would nearly never be purchased! You know what would be…. More classes and sub-classes, spells, items, and adventures! You know what the community also isn’t going to do… rebuy any adventure you’ve previously released! Especially if players have played them before! No one’s buying the lost mine for example a third or fourth time! The console video game market is dying because of lack of content, companies over promising and under delivering games, loss of faith in publishers/developers and lack of original and GOOD games/stories, oh and MICRO TRANSACTIONS! Oops forgot two… BAD COMPANY PR and ATTACKING AND NOT APPRECIATING THE COMMUNITY THAT BUILT YOU UP AND BUYS YOUR PRODUCT! That said I’m not deaf to the greed of your board members and the need to satisfy them but in less than a half hour I’ve come up with a far better plan than micro-transactions, screwing cover your third party developers and pissing off most likely 90% of your fans/customers. I’ve got at least six other ways to add income to your company maybe I’d be a better CEO and it only took a hour now. Thank you
Sincerely:

So begins the Reign of Paizo.

I wish I had a subscription, so I could cancel it. Does anyone want to cancel their subscription in honor of me?'

This needs to be back on the first page, I think.
