There is not currently. The plan is to eventually completely revamp the homebrew tools. The current ones are really just a slightly prettied-up version of the tools the developers use. They have said in the past they don't want to spend a lot of time writing guides for the current homebrew tools when they plan to completely redo them at some point.
so about them wanting to revamp the homebrew tools? this was over 6 years ago and I still don't understand how to use half of the things in the homebrew editor.
Is there a way to edit versatile weapons' two-handed damage via the magic items homebrew creator?
How do the 'Dice Roller' or 'add rollable dice blocks automatically' mechanics work in the paragraph editor or whatever you call what you use to type up your descriptions (same editor bar that shows up here in the forum)
Is there a way to get a roll option for magical weapon bonus damage? For example, if I have a weapon that I have added 1d4 of fire damage to in addition to its normal damage. Is there a way or workaround to have that dice roll show up somehow for easy access. I see that it adds it to the snippet and stuff, but it seems like it's just text. Would be nice if there was a way to add that either through intended means or a work around. The only thing I can think to do is add fake feats that allow me to add additional actions. But I hate that that means I have to have it show up in my character's feats. I thought maybe the dice roller or add rollable dice blocks automatically might be used for that, but I can't figure out how that even works, and that seems like it would only work in the description, not the snippet or anywhere else.
Overall, I love D&D Beyond. But it's one of those love hate relationships. I love all that it allows. And it makes my life infinitely better, but its just frustrating that it does so much yet falls so short in some ways that it makes it even more noticeable. Like, if I was just rolling dice on my own for every roll via the digital roller or traditional dice, then I can get in a good routine. But when the quick rolls work for ALMOST everything but leave out rolls you would ideally want to roll with them, it adds additional steps and those are either cumbersome or get forgotten about.
Like I get it, its a lot of work putting a platform like this together. I guess I just wish that since they are opening up all the tools that they have to their disposal, that maybe we the users could help figure out these mechanics for them. Kind of like how modders come up with things for video games that allow mods. A lot of time those mods inspire or help the devs implement official means for accomplishing what the mods accomplish. Like even if it was just opening up the API to some extent or giving a code window in the homebrew section that allows us to do all the work ourselves. Idk. Just makes the practicality of using D&D Beyond for everything a little less practical. Like the types of things I am looking for aren't even that crazy. And who knows, maybe its already implemented, but the fact that there isn't any info on how to do some of these seemingly basic things seems odd to me.
Sidenote: I really really hope that these layoffs from Hasbro aren't affecting WOTC... then we definitely will not be getting the revamped homebrew tools.
Not sure if this should be in bugs and support or general, but I'm asking for support so giving it a shot.
Is there an explanation of what each of the modifier types in the dndbeyond homebrew does?
specifically I want to understand how to use the carrying capacity modifier. but I cannot find reference to it anywhere.
It would be great if there was like a Wiki (maybe there is) for the homebrew.
