i know it’s on the timeline, but it’s become even more urgent for me as I have definite proof at least one member of my group is looking up monster stats mid combat. Annoying as hell. I’ve already spoken to them, and spoke to the group again about how (for me at least) it takes away from the game.
since I’m the one who purchased the content I wanna be able to lock that crap down.
any vague ETA available on this? Days, weeks, sometime in the next decade, don’t hold your breath, etc?
I know it isn't what you are looking for, but you could disable your content sharing during the session, then re-enable it afterwards. The characters should still have access to everything on their character sheet, but can't add anything else.
Just a thought to keep the one character in check.

I just finished doing exactly that. It really, really upset me... especially given that it was the rules lawyer doing it. Made the session have a real sour taste in my mouth, made it more "players VS GM" rather than "play for awesomeness." Sucks to not provide my friends with this stuff... but if this is how it has to be :(

Playtesting Fugare Draconis, an epic tale of adventure, loss, and redemption
is there any update on the matter of blacklisting/whitelisting. With more and more of useless additional sourcebooks being published, D&D players and DMs who want to stay true to the core principles and dislike stupid min/maxing and power builds, blacklisting is absolute necessary. My players want to limit the character options to the strict Basic Rules pdf but want to use your system. They really have a hard time to manually filter the options. It also seems, that the Basic Rules on D&D Beyond are not the same as the Basic Rules pdf published by Wizards of the Coast.
I hope you have something in the pipeline, because at the moment most of my players avoid D&D Beyond.

If you just want the basic rules, disable content sharing?
That way, only the basic rules will be available (if you ensure the players also turn off the toggle's for additional content like Eberron, Homebrew and Playtest)
I must ask, if you consider this content 'useless' and dislike 'stupid min/maxing and power builds', why are you buying this content in the first place?

They're the basic rules + the SRD, which is the expanded basic rules beyond what's found in the Starter Kit, both of which are published by WotC
Thanks for your reply. I typically disable content sharing but this still leaves me with way too much character options for the players. They complain heavily about checking with the pdf regarding the options, especially the spells. The basic rules in D&D beyond are not the same as in the minimalistic basic rules of the pdf. It is not about what is officially WotC content. I just need a minimalistic set of rules.
I would like to have the option to really minimize the character creation options as I see fit.
Regarding the point of me buying the stuff in the first place, I started with buying a bundle to get the adventures for less money. My players and I use D&D Beyond mainly to have the PCs in one place sorted by campaign. Most of us don’t use digital tools at the gaming table. In addition, when I started with D&D Beyond I had high hopes that WotC would not go the same direction as Paizo did. Unfortunately, I see a lot of similarities. In my opinion, a lot of especially younger gamers coming from video games seem to be more concerned about to optimized character builds, etc. than to role play. This is simply not my world. Character creation is a matter of 5 minutes tops. You have a character in mind and not some numbers and start gaming. My characters have ability scores between 3-16 and not 8-20. The best characters have big disadvantages. I grew up with the quote of one of the big rpg elders: “Background is what happens in the first 3 levels.”, where players don’t get to argue about rules and where a trap can mean save or die or even instant death.
I am aware that WotC and D&D Beyond can’t address the needs of all gamers, but I am disappointed that old school gamers are put in the box with “they don’t use computers anyway”. I might be old but I am able to use a computer or a tablet...
