I recently started playing DnD and my friend told me to use this APP.
I had the character created on paper (we believe we created right) and according to the Players Hand book there are 6 Fighting Styles. However on the APP when creating the character here there are ONLY 4 and mine does not show (Protection). Can anyone clarify if the APP os correct or is still not updated or something?
The four Fighting Style feats in the Basic Rules are available for free. There are additional ones available with the purchase of the Player’s Handbook here on D&D Beyond.
Alternatively, if you have the physical book, you could use it to recreate Protection as a homebrew feat on the site. (You won’t be able to designate it as a Fighting Style feat, but you could leave your Fighting Style unselected and then just manually add the feat to your character.)

Also, if you and your friend are in the same campaign, content sharing may be available. (Somebody in the game has to have a master subscription and turn sharing on, then everybody's books can be used to build characters in that game.)
I purchased the Player's Handbook (2024) and still don't have access to these fighting styles. I made sure that the class was added as a Player's Handbook class and not under the Core Rules, but it's only offering Core Rules styles in the drop down.

What did you do to add your class "as a Player's Handbook class"?

I think you're getting some terms confused.
"Core Rules" is a term for the three core rulebooks: the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual. As of this writing, all the official Fighting Style feats currently available are included in the Player's Handbook, so they all fall under this category.
"Basic Rules" is a free product that is a subset of the Player's Handbook, and seems more like what you're talking about. It includes some of the Fighting Style feats from the Player's Handbook, but not all of them. However, because it's just a subset of the Player's Handbook, it doesn't have its own source category.
It was showing only the 4 "Basic Rules" fighter styles listed under "Core Rules", which is what led to the confusion. I wound up having to fully clear my browser cache to fix the issue.

Prior to purchasing the PHB, the classes were listed with Core Rules and 2014 versions. After purchase, it listed them as Players Handbook and 2014 versions. I deleted the class and readded, which fixed some issues, but the fighter style one persisted until I cleared my browser cache.

ModeratorEverything from the PHB, including its Fighting Style feats, are categorized under Core Rules.
