I have always found the character sheet UI a bit clunky, but it wasn't until I made a Kensai/Fighter/Mage that the UX issues became unbearable. In a single combat turn I have to dig through numerous tabs trying to find all the abilities I use. No one person in my group keeps up with ammunition because who wants to click on equipment, then click on the ammunition, then click to decrement an arrow every time they attack. Three clicks over three panels for something so routine is just bad UX. Seventy-five percent of the descriptions and abilities don't need to be forced in my face.
Example Turn: Attack/Damage (Actions Tab) -> Booming Blade Damage (Spells Tab) -> Attack/Damage (Actions Tab) -> Use Combat Superiority Die (Features Tab) -> Flurry of Blows (Bonus Actions Tab, Or scroll way down) -> Attack/Damage (Actions Tab) -> Stunning Fist (scroll around for it) -> Action Surge (scroll around for it) -> Cast Spell (Spells Tab)
You get the point..There is just too much to remember where everything is and even if you do it takes wayyy too many clicks and scrolling (I shudder to think what this is like on a phone). What we need is an extra tab that users can pick and choose the abilities/spells/actions/etc and the ordering they appear. Ideally, 90% of the time a user should stay on one tab during a combat turn.
Here is a quick and dirty mock-up.
