I’d like to be able to homebrew a class. That way, I don’t have to buy physical character sheets in order to use a custom class, and my characters don't have to become NPCs just because they don’t quite fit any of the official class options.
Matt Mercer did it with the blood hunters, and it was good enough to become official content, so we know it’s possible. All we need is a platform to do it on, and I think DNDBeyond would be perfect for it.
Homebrew classes are an oft-requested feature. However, their complexity makes public implementation incredibly tricky at the moment, nearly to the point of inaccessibility. Stormknight, who knows the forms probably backwards and forwards, has said in a past Dev Update that building the Blood Hunter took an entire week!
It's worth mentioning that the Blood Hunter isn't official content, either; it doesn't appear in any Wizards of the Coast publications.
Alright, fair point. I suppose even people as amazingly smart as you guys can’t do everything immediately. Perhaps it’s an idea for the future then? Then you can impress us even more than you already have!
From what I understand, they want to do it, and maybe they are slowly working on it, who knows. But these things take time, and they have been assaulted with all the new content coming out which has to take priority over anything else they implement.
