It would be great - specifically for this - to have an option to "Enable" this content (similar to the "Homebrew" content flag) for play testing Online through D&D Beyond.
See many threads about not supporting UA - it is too much work when a lot of it will need to be rewritten when the next draft of UA, or the final product, is released.
Which, normally I'd get - but because they actually have a thing to "Claim" it on D&D Beyond - but then, there's nothing really being "Claimed." Why go through the effort of "Claiming" the content. Why not just offer a download, up front?
And while, I get the standard UA stuff is a pain - being that this is for the "next generation of D&D" - if they really wanted the highest volume of feedback, it feels like capturing a larger source would be the way to go. I get a lot of people still play D&D in person. But with D&D Beyond, and other tools - playing virtually has become so much easier, and now has a very large audience. So it seems like it would be easy to "program" in - then "Enable" (like the Homebrew content) - and when it's done, simply remove the option to enable it, until the next round of D&D One UA is available.
Mind you, these are just random thoughts, that I thought. Not angry or frustrated at anyone. But for all the games I run, they're all remote now. Even the game with the majority of the players local, just because it's infinitely easier and more convenient (especially folks with kids who won't have to leave their kids with their significant other or a sitter).
Tabletop VTT Feedback - I think it's great wizards is going in this direction. One suggestion for them. Form a dedicated MapAI team. A team that will use AI to take user-generated 2D maps they love and render them into the new Unreal Engine ideally ready for play with just a few clarifying prompts (ie, is that a pillar or a boulder? type of questions). If they want to win over fans that's the way to do it.
Also, let players connect their personal libraries of images, maps, etc to whatever they make. Foundry VTT let's us use our Amazon S3 storage as a source to pull maps, images, music, etc. Something users can take responsibility for.

Because D&D Beyond Tools are not a "download". However, D&D Beyond does allow the "download" of a PDF, likely as part of a strategy/initiative to make D&D Beyond a one stop shop for D&D Resources. The stuff that isn't ready for prime time, like playtest material which may take multiple trips to the drawing board aren't stable enough for the toolset that exists on D&D Beyond.

UA was never horsing around either, it was playtest material for content planned for future products, and they got plenty of feedback on that stuff even after DDB stopped supporting it. You speculate it's an easy toggle, DDB has assured us back during the UA pulling the plug that it's not. In this case I'm leaning toward the authoritative answer.

The notion that DDB is essential to run games virtual just isn't true. I run other games besides D&D and I don't use anything more sophisticated than Google Sheets and Docs for character management. I'm a parent too, and I'm just not challenged playing games virtually on non-D&D systems. I don't use VTTs either.

That's cool that you use google sheets. I, however, already try to use D&D Beyond as my one stop shop (which is D&D Beyond's goal).
The only addition I have for myself and players is the (incredible) Beyond20 (link, in the off chance yer not familiar with it) add on. Because I use Discord to speak with everyone, and I typically do theater of mind (unless it's like a dungeon or a complex cave, then I might throw something on Roll20 for visual) - and through Beyond20, my players (and myself for NPCs and Monsters) simply roll from D&D Beyond - and it rolls into Discord for me. So we can talk on Discord, see rolls in Discord - but it's all hailing from D&D Beyond. Even when the scant few times I use Roll20 for a cave or dungeon map - it's simply for tokens and visuals. Everything is still being rolled from D&D Beyond for characters, monsters, etc.
So I don't see the need to go your route, of google docs or whatever, if I am using D&D Beyond already for source of truth.
(And to be clear, I am not saying your way is wrong, lame, stupid, whatever - merely explaining how I run my D&D games virtually and how it works for me). :)

And that's the point, the One D&D UA isn't a "source of truth". It's literally not mechanical canon so you won't find it in the toolset until it becomes part of the official rules, just like all the UA before it since DDB stopped doing those lifts.

Looks like a good opportunity for feedback to share in the survey i see popping up. I for One (i know im being cheesy) would just prefer this stuff be a toggle in DDB out of convenience especially if you want my opinion on it.
