Is there not a way to link a ranged weapon with Ammo?
I would think that the devlopers could optionally link these together. Here is an example. A Worlock who uses a sling, and fires at least 2 or more types of ammo. we have SlingBullets, stones, and Magic Stone my favorite. So building my Warlock I choos Sling, sling bullets = 20 rounds, and a bag of stones = 20 rounds. My Warlock casts Magic Stone, and fires that using the sling. Magic stone doesn't account for the sling's bonuses or damage as applicable, norEqually casting Magic Stone does not account for the sling used. As a player I would like to be able to state I will be casting Magic stone then start my attack by selecting Sling + ammo type. Make my attack roll, with any bonuses of the Sling, proficiencies, and the damage of the ammo chosen, Magic Stone my choice, or sling bullet, strawberry LOL you never know! all modifiers are added to the attack and damage rolls. as part of the attack the ammo count of what is chosen, would automoticly decrease by 1 or the number of shots made in a single attack, in te case of other ranged weapons. Idealy in the charater inventory you would have sling then sublines of ammo one for each type of ammo carried. This same principal would allpy to a bow and quiver of broadhead arrows, poison tipped, explosive, field point, flaming ect. The reason the decrease by shot could be important, is in a battle where recovery of ammo is not always necessary, for example a ship battle your likely not going to recover ammo until you make port. Thoughts?
