I have been using MAPS to run my own (homebrew) adventures since it was released. As such I have been welcoming each new capability that has been added as they make the game experience better.
The recent introduction of the ability to reveal images within the game, has been another useful feature.
As has been requested by many people, I was eagerly waiting for the introduction of the ability to reveal my own content.
Fortunately, this is now available to DMs through the ability to reveal images on monsters within MAPS.
What I have started doing is to create a homebrew monster, called something like "Act 2.1 Scene". I add the relevant scene image as the main image for the monster and add all the notes I want into the notes for the monster. I then add the monster's token to the relevant map, making sure that I set the icon as hidden.
This means that I can reveal my scene image using the Reveal option on the icon and I can view my notes on the scene using the "View Stat Block" option.
Needless to say, if you wish to show multiple images within a MAPS scene, you just create multiple homebrew monsters, each with their own image.
I am sure that this will be superseded in the near future with a new MAPS update, in the meantime ...
Very nice work-around! I have treasure chests that reveal the loot now. Hope they make a way to have custom reveals tied to standard stickers and creature blocks after seeing how this works.
Thanks for your comments. I hope that this proves useful for DM's wishing to reveal their own material. I have been splurging on this in my current campaign chapter to reveal all manner of material to the players as it is a nice way to keep all information on a scene to hand.
