So I am creating a homebrew class and as a mechanic at certain levels an ability will be updated with a new name and more potent effects (Think Warlock invocations but with tiers based on level).
I want to make sure that they will show up properly on the character sheet under actions but the properties that I am giving them either is difficult to find or not there. (I am being very specific with my abilities such as {+1 to hit and dmg with Swords. But when applied it gives this bonus to all melee weapon types. I have a work around however})
Any input or tips is appreciated. My main goal is to try to make thing appear under the correct location without the player requiring to review Feature & Traits too often.
On the actions segment you would be wanting to select "Level Overrides" on your action, and make relevant changes in there, which will change the action to how it works as an action at that level.
For what is displayed in the sheet the way that D&D Beyond works is that in the snippet it shows upgrades to a feature at the end. IE) This is my feature snippet where I describe the action. [3rd] This is how it changes. [8th] This is how it changes. Here's a live example of this on a Druid.
I have played with the Level Override and this actually doesn't help my particular case. Yes it does edit on the character sheet automatically when the change has to deal with a modifier but the action i am creating does not directly deal with how many dice, dice type, or even a stat modifier.
Also as a side note, there is no way for me to have the Action range be dependent on Wielded weapon. Also there is a separate issue where I can give a modifier to Melee weapons but I can not section it off to Weapon types or even Damage types. Lastly there is no Level Override for Modifiers
