Wondering if anyone has heard anything about whether the Sidekick appendix from the Ruins of Icespire adventure will ever be added into the character builder.
I don't have a need for the full copy of the adventure itself, but I wouldn't mind throwing down a few bucks in the shop to get it added as a purchasable module that would let us build out a sidekick in the chargen section. Is this in the cards at all? Too hard to code?
I've also heard vague and unsubstantiated rumors that a "full" version of the sidekick rules might find its way into another future supplement, which would be cool, but in the mean time it would be nice to have the existing rules in play.
Ah, OK. That makes sense, since they were pre-built out in the adventure appendix. Any custom-built sidekicks would have to come if the UA ever gets released into the wild in it's full capacity.
The "monster sidekicks" could be made into stand alone purchases, like some of the adventures have a la Carte pricing on individual monsters.
*edit* They ARE available as individual purchases, apparently. For some reason I couldn't see the purchase options when I went in via the store directly, but searching the monster compendium for monsters with the Sidekick tag brought them up with the link to the individual purchases. Wierd semi-bug, but they are there.
As a DM to kids, I'd love to see sidekicks available as full characters. They are a great way to introduce new players to the game without adding a ton of other stuff that needs to be learned. Heck, they'd also be nice to have available as NPCs in my campaign.
Sure, my 9 year old son is getting pretty good at dealing with the full classes, and he's getting to be a good DM too, but some of his party-mates could do better with the simplified sidekick classes.
As an aside, I haven't figured out yet how to get my son his own DDB account. It looks like the rules are preventing it, and that really sucks. I'd love for him to have access to character sheets and the campaign and encounter builders on his Google FamilyLink controlled tablet. He has some good homebrew item and monster ideas as well that would be great for him to work on.

The existing sidekicks can be added to characters in extras. Each sidekick level is a different monster.
