The Monster Manual has several templates like "half-dragon", "shadow dragon", and "zombie" that can be applied to certain monsters. The Dungeon Master's Guide has racial templates that can be added to NPCs. Thanks to the homebrew system, it's not terribly difficult to make a copy of a monster and apply the relevant features from the template, but an automated system for doing this would be nice.
I also want this, I'm trying to create a set of corrupted monsters, and they all share a few common traits. The ability to make a template & apply it would be invaluable. I actually assumed that this functionality would already exist in D&D Beyond, but was disheartened to learn that it does not.

You'll probably see it in the future when the Monster Builder begins to take shape.
