so it seems like your issue is more with how DM's can manage what content is used in their campaigns than with a la carte? people have been asking for that for years already aswell. I don't realy see how not having a la carte limits people draging in things that don't fit. after all as the DM you can always just say no whan someone does that.
My issue is with how DDB allows players access to things they've not bought to be an issue at our table just because someone else bought iit.The DM has less control and DDB facilitates it for a nominal fee regardless of what the table wants. Lose lose for DDB and the DM.
Predictable, 80% of this threads content is taken up by people quoting each other for some reason while talking about something which is kind of relevant to the main post but not really the point of it. Ahhh forums, there's a reason they died.
I want content sharing that allows the DM to decide what is available at the table they run, not a free for all that takes time that should be game play instead of discussions and explanations of why it shouldn't be alowed at a particular game that detract from the game we want to play.
But you know marketing Trumps immersion et al, and marketing Trumps logic.
DM'S run the game, not the players or wotc.
Notes: You don't need to quote, you're replying directly below it.
Folk, you do not need to include the entire reply chain in your quote. You can edit it only to the relevant parts, and you do not even need to quote at all if you are replying directly below the message you are responding to. There is no need to repeat half the thread. Similarly, if you find you are simply replying/quoting the same user, take a step back and consider if you're focusing on the topic or the user themselves.
On that note, please also keep in my the original topic of the thread.
Edit: Content sharing would be best moved to a new thread if folk want to talk about how best to use that in their games. It is not on topic for this thread and further comments will be removed and users may receive reminders.
I admit, haven't used maps much as I mainly use roll20 as a vtt and found maps lacking. But thats a while ago so will check it out.
In regards to the others debating the merit of having or not having microtransactions on the platform, it is irrelevant to this post. That's conscious decision the platform has taken on how to sell their stuff. My issue is that the services they do provide, the ones I and many others pay for are deteriorating due to what appears to be a lack of development and support.
New features like maps are being updated but sheets and search get worse for every bit of new content that is added here. That's what I take umbrage with.
Maps is a nice additional feature, but the core of ddb is the charactersheet and the automatic calculations behind it. Which has not improved now for quite some time
Well why is it hard for you to monitor your character's sheet? Seems like a non issue to me, been DMing for over 20 years and with pen & paper you had to make sure your players weren't cheating because it was easy to inflate attributes, add feats behind your DM back if they weren't paying attention.

I would argue the character tool on DDB is less useful since wotc bought the site.

You can just turn off content sharing if you don't want it.
pronouns: he/she/they
That goes against the very heart of TTRPG's, and more towards the MMORPG.
The game was built around a table of friends and soon to be friends. The current owners of the IP are just milking it not building it.
Sorry, I'm having trouble following you here. Do you want there to be content sharing for players or not?

D&D Beyond ToS || D&D Beyond Support
Maps has been continuously updated with new features, for one.

Yes that is the point of this thread ;)
