Two material components which I think are hilarious:
The passwall spell requires... wait for it... a sesame seed. Open sesame
The detect thoughts spell requires a penny for your thoughts.
and some illusion spell I can't remember requires fleece, for pulling the wool over your eyes. (there may be a thread just for finding these)

My posting scheduled is irregular: sometimes I can post twice a week, sometimes twice a day. I may also respond to quick questions, but ignore harder responses in favor of time.
My location is where my character for my home game is (we're doing the wild beyond the witchlight).

Starting at 1st level, you have darkvision with a range of 120 feet.
When you reach 3rd level in this class, you learn the darkness spell, which doesn’t count against your number of sorcerer spells known. In addition, you can cast it by spending 2 sorcery points or by expending a spell slot. If you cast it with sorcery points, you can see through the darkness created by the spell.
Coffee(?)-lock then a longbow.

If you have the telekinetic feat, you get invisible mage hand with no spell components. So you can tap people on the shoulder from 30 feet away, and then they turn around and see nobody near them. Or knock over a glass behind someone while talking. Blame it on ghosts or something.
This is less of a mechanical thing and more of a flavor thing, but I feel like if you ever wanted to play a Stereotypical Anime Swordsman (TM), the best class/subclass for it would be a Bladesinger Wizard.
1) You have mastered a specific style of swordsmanship (Lion, Eagle, Pit Viper, etc)
2) You have a magical enhancement to your sword fighting (Bladesong)
3) You can reflavor your spells as being special techniques you have trained in. Call them Arcane Techniques or Hidden Techniques or whatever else tickles your fancy, and be sure to yell the name of every spell out loud when you cast it
4) Casting Haste on yourself = "Forgive me master, I must go all out...just this once".
A while back in an ultimately short lived game, I had a sorcerer who was annoyed when the party, after landing on top of a tower riding griffins, was taking forever chattering on the roof rather than coming inside. So she blew a third level spell slot on sleet storm to force them inside. At another point she also subtle spelled alter self to start mimicing party members that were annoying her.
The spell Fireball uses bat guano ( bat poop??? really ??? ) to cast it; imo it's ridiculous, because there's no`more use from a bat poop rather than this spell; which it makes me think about some d&d dev had no better way to troll this spell's Material requirements.
Also, how can I do if 35% of cleric / Paladin spells needs holy water , and to make the suposed holy water one has to spend an extra spellslot to cast the Ritual Ceremony ??? A ritual to make 1 holy water !!???
Someone should make a better spell to create more than 1 Holy water per cast, or else the Clerics/Paladins are f***d.

A Human Cleric with 3 idioms proficiency ( Common, Celestial and Dwarvish ) cast Speak with Dead over a dead Minotaur who dosen't knows how to either write or read in Common idiom. Good luck in using mimicry !!!! hehehehe

Dark vision doesn’t allow you to see in magical darkness. The only way is to use Devil’s sight as a warlock invocation, blind sight or tremor sense. Or indeed the sorcery ability mentioned in your quote. But yeah devils sight / darkness is a well known combo.
