Well there you go... she tried to come up with a boon that she thought would work for each character and wasn't quite sure what you would want and took a stab at it.
And of course, she couldn't ask ahead of time because that would ruin the surprise.

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
i stopped a robbery in a tavern and my dm gave me a bag of holding. Unfortunately he was feeling like a bad person that day and it turns out instead of a bag of holding it was a hobo with a mimic ring. so thats fun!
My DM just granted each of us a Boon as a reward for completing part of our campaign. That is great, love the idea of a Boon instead of an item. Unfortunately the Boon I received is terrible for my character.
As an action I can create a 15 foot ring. Within that Speed TestScrabble Word FinderSolitairering I become immune to the Charmed and Frightened conditions. That sounds good, until you realize that it is an action (2 attacks and possibly a 3rd) and locks me down into one place so I can't chase down the enemy.
I have decided not to say anything as I don't want to hurt her feelings, but I really don't see me using this ability more than once in every blue moon. Has anyone else ever found themselves getting a reward that they just didn't want?
Who granted the boon? In character, could you try talking to them about it and speak to how - firstly - you're thankful to get one, but are interested in what other boons are/were possible? You (your character) wants to be the best that they can, and feel like the charm, although great, could be better granted to someone else.

They got the boon from a cursed jade stick (for more info read the OP's other comments).
And the problem has been resolved (for more info read the OP's other comments).
Sorry it has been so long. The updated boon is better in my opinion.
As a reaction I can create a ring of green flame with a 15 ft radius that lasts a number rounds equal to the number of Rages. I can use the ability once per day. While within the ring, me and my allies have advantage on saving throws against spell effects.
Still stationary, but provides a benefit to the party whether I am in it or not and instead of an action it is a reaction.
This Boon sounds like something that would be used more in RP than in Combat. Having the ability to just straight up not be charmed could be pretty useful

To be honest, I feel that giving a boon in this way - just as giving personalised super items - is a mistake that the DM has made, because it takes away player choice, and relies on them putting you in scenarios that it's useful, as otherwise it's basically nothing.
When you're given an item, you have a choice about whether to use it or not. I'm personally in favour of magical item vendors with items at set prices, so that spending gold on them is a choice that you, the player, can make (naturally, they have a limited range of buyable options...). When a DM gives a player a magical item or a boon, as in this case, specifically they are planning for it to be useful (or worse, they aren't, so it's not really anything).
My question would be this, however:
Are the boons gifted to other players much more useful? Or are they situational? If someone else got a +2 stat major stat bonus, I'd be grinding my teeth and tell them directly that I feel short changed on the boon. But if the others have similar boons that are highly situational, then it's just part of the game.
Who gave the boon? If it was an NPC then feel free to have your character become bitter and angry about what they were given if that's how you feel!

As long as we're here though, I'm curious to hear how the OP and their DM resolved this
Watch Crits for Breakfast, an adults-only RP-Heavy Roll20 Livestream at twitch.tv/afterdisbooty
And now you too can play with the amazing art and assets we use in Roll20 for our campaign at Hazel's Emporium
Nothing really nailed down as of yet. Our group is on hiatus until after the holidays. I will post here once it is all worked out.

Yeah, but giving everyone in my party advantage on saving throws as a reaction is pretty nice too

... Sorry. Carry on. :)
