I've had an idea for a character I really like, a light-hearted character, who doesn't really use weapons except maybe a staff.
I'm thinking a Kitsune-type race, for looks anyway, building off the Satyr Race (Mechanics seem perfect aside from Raming attack).
Probably Entertainer background, and as I said I like the idea of them being very light-hearted and happy.
I don't really want them to seem offensive, so no weapons or armor except maybe a staff, so that's where Monk comes in. Up until Tasha's I was thinking Sun Soul. Although I find the Mercy and Astral ones quite intriguing as well now. I like the Druid aspect, as I like to have some spells to cast, and the Wildfire one thematically feels like a good fit. I was also hoping to take the new Fey Touched Feat to get access to Misty Step for some 'porting fun. So I was thinking about someone, who if faced with fighting can get in and out with some quick hitting.I like the idea of them changing to a beast form (fox, obvi) and just frolicking around on downtime/ RP...
Anyone have any thoughts on this mechanically? Or story wise? Does this sound feasible? And if so, what subclasses might be best? I have only played a Monk (Drunken master) for 2 sessions before and no Druids... but the stats seem to be fine...? Please let me know any ideas or thoughts you have!
Thank you!!

If you're going for the kind are rare combatant type of playstyle, I do NOT recommend a druid, especially a druid of the wildfire. A druid in itself has many strong beliefs that are kinda necessary to play a druid. Such as the natural order of things, the immediate hatred of undead and aberrations, and the disbelief of metal armor. So if your character truly wanted to be peaceful, I do not recommend a druid at all or you may find yourself in combat a lot more than you may have wanted. Instead, I would put the multiclass into a class that promotes pacifism like the Oath of Redemption Paladin or the Life Domain Cleric. Playing a support class is never easy, which makes it fun to have monk as a backup defense.
If you were to play a druid and monk for this character, then I would not recommend wildfire either, because wildfire stresses how destruction is necessary for regrowth as a forest fire springs forth an abundance of life. This means... Violence. To play a passive druid, I wholly recommend a druid of the dreams. It's a great support class druid, but it's kinda lame. It's abilities aren't the greatest, but they're still good. Druid of the shepherd is also a good one, but that one stresses summoning and conjuring.
So in conclusion, I would recommend doing Paladin of Redemption (XGtE) combined with the monk. As for the monk subclass, sun soul seems a good fit. But if you really wanna play that druid (which I approve of, druids are awesome), then I would recommend the Circle of Dreams. Other subclasses are good too, but definitely not wildfire or spores.
Edit: Druid of the stars is a REALLY REALLY REALLY good support class with opportunities to heal absolutely everywhere and a really cool roleplay style. If you choose druid of the stars and sun soul monk, you could ask your DM if you can change it from sun soul to star soul or something like that. Nothing changes, but instead of sun beams, you throw stars. A really good rp idea, and I might do it now.
If you want to play up a bit more of the mix of life and death in your character, then the Circle of Spores can mix with the Way of Mercy Monk. The extra attacks of the Monk can make up for the fact that your unarmed strikes don't count as the melee weapon attacks required to gain extra damage from the Spore Druid's Symbiotic Entity feature.
I know this one is a bit more offensive in nature, but think of it more as having another option available. If you decide to go more Druid than Monk, the Spore Druid can provide some support from its slight undead theme. I would agree that Dream Druid is another healing/support focused approach that can mix with the Way of Mercy Monk. Extra bonus action healing outside of Ki points is great, and the other support features of the Dream Circle make travel much easier.
Playing a Monk / Moon Druid at the moment that originated in a more traditional Medieval setting (low magic world), where she was the the Daughter of Lord and spent a great deal of time amongst knights... but predominately was not allowed to fight and focused on Healing (Healer's Feat). She only has 1-level in Monk at the moment, which has a huge benifit for her wildshape forms, but also gives her something to do when she wants to hide the fact that she is capable of magic and wildshape. As a Healer, Mercy does have a lot of appeal.. but at level 7 (1 monk / 6 druid) the issue I am having is deciding WHEN the right time to put points back into Monk.
Both Monk and Druid get great new features at each level, so how you split the two is really a difficult decision.
For a playful-peaceful and non-agressive type character, I do think Mercy Monk would fit your character fairly well if you are going to be picky about which fights you want to take. Using a Staff and Martial Arts, you could state all of your damage is Non-Lethal, so you don't have to use your Healing Touch to heal them, but incase you go a step too far and gravely injure an an opponent (provided you aren't trying to kill them) you can use Hands of Healing.. but that's not the only way to play a Mercy Monk. You could argue you have a hatred or have a very clear line between what is GOOD and BAD. As mentioned above by the others, you need to keep in mind your DRUID has their own set of guiding personality types. Anything against view of things that are considered Natural (ie: undead or fiends) might need to be burned and purged from the face of existence!
Astral Self or Sun Soul could have some fun aspects if you wanted to be an entertainer (shooting sun blasts into the air while juggling or tumbling, or projecting your astral self as part of the show). For Druid, I think Sun Soul and Wild Fire would work together fairly well, but as a multi-class your Sun Soul will suffer in terms of damage due to low Monk Die. Same will be true for any Druid Archetype with your Astral Self... You'll need to plan what you want your level split to be (more druid vs more monk).
If you're playing a Monk / Druid, mechanically one side or the other will falter.. but for role playing they can easily work together for a good character design.

Monk/ Druid Multiclass?

I love roleplaying, message me so we can set something up.
I talk everything D&D, message me for questions, chat, arguements, or roleplay!
