In a campaign I'm DM-ing one of the players feel under the control of a Dominate Person spell but I didn't really know how to describe the feeling of mind control to them I went with: you just can't resist doing what they want, and left it at that but would like to change that to something a bit more in-depth though I'm struggling to come up with ideas. Any suggestions?
You have the uncontrollable urge to do exactly what [insert character here] tells you to. You feel compelled, like you just have to do it no matter what.

In the 4th Harry Potter book they describe the sensation of being mind controlled as being like, overpowered by pleasant sensation-- the idea that the spell makes you contented and compliant, and it requires extra force of will to snap yourself out of it because your brain doesn't really want you to. That could be another way to go

Thanks everyone, this is all really helpful and I appreciate you all putting the time and effort in to respond to me.
"Suddenly, you feel like a passenger in your own mind. A moment ago you could drive but now you can only watch as your body moves, your face smiles, you raise your hands and cast a fireball in the midst of your companions struggling to fight a horde of orcs. Your face smirks while inside you scream at the chains that hold your soul bound into helplessness and immobility."
I think that might tend to capture the horror and helplessness aspects of being mind controlled but you might want to make sure that your players aren't too empathetic or it could feel like a bit much.

Thanks for replying that's definetely helpful. I'm probably going to bring this one in in cases like a full moon for a player with lycanthropy or something that really makes them lose control more than just being cast a spell on I think with dominate person the spell offers a wisdom save every time they take damage so this might be a bit over the top for that though I will definetely write it down in case of a more extreme form of mind control needs to be described. Thanks again.
I am running an aboleth campaign and the first player just got enslaved I took the player aside (in our case a seperete room on discord) and said.
You feel it before you make out the words, at first the voice is simply a nagging sensation at the back of your mind, like wondering if you locked the door or left the gas on in the house. A need and a desire to listen, to do something your brain focuses, or block out all thought, all desire, all needs and wants and you simply wait a feeling of needing instruction overtakes you and then, the voice speaks, clearly, plainly, telling you it’s ok, you don’t have to make any real decisions ever again, just listen and obey.
followed by a list of instructions and an explanation that the players only driver now is following them.

You could also describe it as something like:
"Suddenly, you feel like a passenger in your own mind.
