My current project is turning Tomb of Annihilation into a lv. 1 through 20 campaign, complete with Atropus the World Born Dead as the final villain (drawn to the world by the mass deaths caused by the Soulmonger). To fill out lv.s 11-20, I'm making various story arcs, each featuring a new central conflict, but each building up to the arrival of Atropus. As the final arc before shit officially hits the fan, I've come up with the idea to introduce everyone's favorite Warhammer undead... No, not those guys, they're not even undead. I'm talking Nighthaunt.
The idea I'm working with is that the souls trapped in the soul monger did not go to their appropriate afterlife when the party killed the Atropal. Instead, they were either left behind in the mortal realm, or ensnared by foul magics. Either way, they were stuck here, unable to affect the world around them. However, with the. coming of Atropus, necromantic energies flow across the world, giving form to the formless, and word is arriving from all across the continent of Luinaren (my setting) that strange ghosts are appearing, seemingly out of nowhere, and leading them is the dreaded Olynder, Lady of Grief...
So, what do you guys think? Cool, lame, any ideas you think would fit?
(A cool moment I imagine is the party confronting someone who were once their friend, but died before they could destroy the soul monger. Now, they are driven mad by their new unlife, and needs to be put down...)
I'm doing the same, I'm using the skeleton stat block for mine, Im even using the dread warden, same stats just leveled up and with an ability to summon chainrasps, I want to mix more AOS creatures and convert them but the only stat blocks I can find are for warhammer fantasy so it might take more work to sort it out
No, unfortunately. I'm a pretty lousy homebrewer anyway, so I'd have to use a bunch of basic statblocks and give them one or two additional abilities. Like intangibility and a "drain hope" ability.

Have you worked on it any more since this post? I’m looking for AoS nighthaunt stats for DND.
