Hi I'm a new dm looking for ideas for first my homebrew campaign and I am looking for help in two areas. First unique enemy character ideas for specific races/enemy types these are goblins, kobolds, hobgoblins, drow, Goliath, bugbear, giant insect/arachnid, undead, and dragons. As well as side quests for unique environments which are sentient root, crystal, moss, and fungus as well as a mold swamp and carnivorous flower jungle. It's to be lvl 1-12
Could you give a bit more details? Like a general outline of the kind of plot or feel you want for the campaign? I assume there is one since you have the enemies pre selected, unless that was done because they are low CR or you just happened to have those stat blocks on hand.
It might also help to know if you played or read any campaigns before to use as examples.
Maybe organize any allied enemy types by rank. Every 10 goblins commanded by a hobgoblin, three hobgoblin squads under a bugbear, etc. leading up to whatever your BBEG happens to be. Flesh out the leader types with personality/goals/motivations.
For unique enemies, that can be anything. As a DM you are free to morph and reskin creatures as you see fit. For side-quests, might I suggest poking around the Encounters of the Week articles here on dndb? Read them, and take what you want from them to apply to your campaign - at least until you get the feel for DM'ing.
Most of the stuff I've read are a few basic campaigns and a lot of stuff on these forums dear gods you guys have a lot of stuff it's insane. The general outline is the party finds an old map of some underground guild outpost and are sent to investigate there they find a massive underground frontier that they get to explore where many have gone yet none nave returned where at the very bottom an elderlitch with his there headed undead green chimera dragons wait he is slowly corrupting the environment, people, and monsters above and the party has to slowly explore learn of this threat and eventually put a stop to it
